Boomsticks: New gun...

Or new to me at any rate.

Through a fluke set of circumstances, I have come into a Sharps Carbine, or a Pedersoli replica, at any rate, plus various accessories.

Yes, Dr. Strangegun, I will bring it to work so you can figure out what makes it tick.

OK, they ARE a little more work than the self-contained, metallic shell-firing breechloaders... but they are a lot of fun. If you ever get the chance, go watch them in action at the North-South Skirmish Association's Spring or Fall National Shoot (Winchester, VA.); the folks that use them in the carbine match can really demonstrate why they were so popular. The N-SSA bulletion boards also have a wealth of information on loading and shooting them.
