One of my favorite historical figures.

I had a head-to-head in print with a "frontier mythologist" who represented her as being a legend, not a real person. I inherited (from my mother) a silver dollar she nicked in mid-air with a .22. She volunteered to go to Europe during WWI to coach the doughboys in marksmanship; the gov't declined (being a woman), so, being a woman, she went at her own expense. She made exhibition tours after the war to encourage young women to learn shooting, and frequently gave away rifles to promising students. She stood five feet nothin, and humans don't come any bigger.
