Today In History: Boom!

To protest Americans blowing up various Cubans and Shiites, on this day in 1983 some pinko amateur terrorists blew up a good size chunk of the second floor of the U.S. Capitol building.

To the chagrin of more people than will likely admit it out loud, no actual politicians were harmed in the production of this event.

(You'll note that this occurred 24 years ago and it blew the door clean off Sen. Byrd's office. 24 years and the man still hasn't found honest work.)

Hrmm.

I wonder if it would be profitable to go illicitly to Cuba and capture Assata Shakur...

Two of those captured and convicted are released from prison. Marilynn Buck, the serious evil mastermind of that and many other crimes, is still imprisoned, but has a following who describe her as a "political prisoner, artist, and poet."

Hey, I'm a poet too:

Roses are red
Violets are not.
Buck's in prison
Where I hope she'll rot.

If only I were an artist...

Wait! Here's my self portrait of when I heard she was serving an 80 sentence in a SuperMax:

Funny you should mention Byrd, I am working on a paper involving him. A member of the KKK from 1942 until at least 1949, he voted against the Civil Rights Act of 1964, personally conducting a 14 hour filibuster. He also opposed the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

He is the only Senator to have voted against appointing Thurgood Marshall and Clarence Thomas to the Supreme Court.

Even though he now denies his KKK past, his voting record has been consistent. The party of gun control is also the party of racism. Funny thing is, they have the entire country believing that the republicans are the racist ones.
