I'm burning, I'm burning for you...

I'm about a quarter of the way getting the CD collection into iTunes. Today's burns:
  • Simple Minds, Live In The City Of Light
  • Marillion, Misplaced Childhood
  • Madonna, The Immaculate Collection
  • Metallica, Metallica, aka The Black Album
  • Moby, I Like To Score
  • Led Zeppelin, Early Days and Latter Days
  • Robert Miles, Dreamland
Compilations and radio pop; the alphabetic middle of the collection is where the pedestrian stuff lurks, I reckon...

Marillion is great. . . Misplaced Childhood put them on the map here but do you have any of the other CDs? The ones they did after MC were as good or better until Fish left the band. . . .

Hmmm... I had wondered if I was the only person in the world who listened to Marillion. Which didn't make sense because most bands require a customer base greater than one.

Misplaced Childhood is one of the greatest Concept Albums of all time. The way the songs hang together in storyline and mood makes it a crime to put the iPod in "Shuffle" mode.

Ripping, dammit! Ripping :-P

That better not be the ONLY metallica you have, or my vision of you will be shattered. SHATTERED!

Simple Minds is listed under "M".

And I thought *I* was the anal-retentive one...

Misplace Childhood is no doubt a great album, not a bad song on it but Clutching at Straws is rather good too (I think on par with MC)and B-Sides Themselves has a couple of great ones like Market Square Heroes on it

And lets not forget the BOC song the post is named after (maybe?) You do have some BOC on there right??

TD,

Ripping, dammit! Ripping :-P

You hep kids today and your lingo jargon. How do I get my Benny Goodman 78's onto this hardened disk thing?

Amazing. I thought I was the only Marillion listener, too! Then one Marillion mention and 50% of your comments talk about how good that album is (and yes, Marillion slid after Fish left). I guess now I gotta go back and listen to them all.

Scott - that is funny, I had the same reaction. . . It has been far too long since I dug out those CDs. . .

Hey guys - My name is Lucy and I am Marillion's Manager and your blog chat came up on a Google alert so I hope you don't mind me popping in!

Check out www.marillion.com and we'll give you a free download (or CD if you prefer) of songs since Fish left - give them a chance and see if you like it!

I second the motion to rip some Blue Oyster Cult. While "Fire of Unknown Origin" isn't their best CD, it's not their worst either. If your not a total BOC fan, "Workshop of the Telescopes" would be your best bet, that being what amounts to the best of CD set. I, on the the other hand, have all of them....
