Free bullets.

I thought that would get your attention.

Hornady apparently has a promo going on whereby you send in your proof of purchase for various dies or presses, and they send you bullets.

Hm. I do need some dies...

EDITED TO ADD: Did you know that Amazon carries Hornady reloading stuff? They seem to occasionally have smokin' clearance sales on strange die sizes, too, like 7mm Remington Short Action Ultra Mag. We picked up some .25ACP dies for the same $20 low price the other day. Reloading .25ACP should be like building a ship in a bottle...

They say that the wait time on the bullets is 8-10 weeks, but it can run as much as 8 months. Not ripping on Hornady, since I love their press and the bullets are gravy, but just be aware that it can happen. $20 dies, $20 free bullets??? What's not to like?

Hey, let's see what we can do with .25 ACP! I've got some XTP bullets for it sitting around somewhere...

I wonder what size a Lee powder-dipper would be for a .25acp? You'd need a microscopic scale to measure the powder throw.

On Horandy, I ordered some 158gr .38LSWCHP from Hornady last February. They arrive just before Thanksgiving.

The latest Guns & Ammo had an article on reloading the .25 ACP. The author ended up using the powder equipment for a .17 caliber, and was forced to use a scientific scale and tweezers to get an accurate powder load.

Reloading 25 ACP can get... interesting. I loaded up a batch, it worked well (I seem to recall I used just over a grain of powder) but it's a royal PITA.

Also, with our new law, lots of people gave their guns in to shops, along with the ammo. I can get 25 ACP ammo for about the same price as primers. So I'm stocking up :-)

I recommend reloading for the 25 ACP for the same reason I recommend that anyone who wants to wrench on cars should work on a Citroen -- after that, anything else is easy.

Reload .25 ACP? How much of that do you shoot? I think that if I had a .25 pistol, one box would be a lifetime supply. I go through a lot of .22, but not in my NAA mini-revolver.

Like loading an NEF 22 Cap & Ball revolver.

If I could get the dies that cheap, I did find a couple of Ravens when I cleaned my room.

I'm still a .22LR man when it comes to mouse guns.....

Found my data. 1.2 grains of local powder which is supposed to be Bullseye equivalent, 50 grain bullet, about 700 fps.

Joel, yea, I agree. 22s come in all kinds of nice revolvers, pistols and rifles. 25 ACP is pretty much Baby Browning and friends. And they're no particular fun to shoot.

Well, I do have a Colt Vest Pocket and a Duscek Duo, and Bobbi has an Astra Cub/Colt Junior...
