Snowpocalypse Now?

So last weekend they were saying that this weekend would be nice, but cold. Then, early in the week they started making noises about rain. Or maybe some of that "wintry mix" stuff. By Wednesday, they had changed their predictions to "zomg it's teh snowmageddon!!!eleven!"

We are up early here at Roseholme Cottage because roomie has to go tend starship engines at some ungodly hour of the morning and when one person is awake in a tiny little house like this, well, then both people might as well be. And I'm watching the weather to see if Bobbi is headed off into howling white death or not.

The Full Color 360-Degree Ultra Doppler Weather Radar says it's busy wintry mixing already. My trusty Mark 1 Mod 0 Window says differently. I'm skeptical; we'll see.

Always trust acuwindow weather.

The radar is pretty good; I'm usually just amazed at the forecasts- "have you actually LOOKED at the radar you're showing onscreen?"

WV: Cullogie. Single Malt Scotch that doesn't make the grade.

South Jersey is about to get a couple feet of global warming. North Jersey - not so much. Go fugure.

Nuthin' on my car this morning, which saved me some time. It could be the precipitation isn't reaching the ground yet, which would explain the radar/window discrepancy. All I know is, they're predicting most of the accumulation will fall after I get home and get all snuggled in for the evening. Yayyyy, weekends!

Always trust the window, and never trust forecasts that are for more than three days in the future. Our dynamic atmosphere changes too much in too little time for a forecast to be good for much more than two days.

"ceedat" - usually accompanied with a question mark.

I was looking forward to working from home today, but no, it waited `til about 20 minutes ago to start up here. Now I gotta' drive home in it.

Defrogger on rear window was nice this am. Could see all the idjits running down the road with the high beams on. As if that somehow helps.

Looks to be clearing out of the Window 2.0 we have here (double pane)

I always like the weather rock myself. Pretty accurate localized forecast available from one of those.

Your AcuWindow is always the best indicator, but remember kids, if you venture out in das Auto during whiteout conditions, turn your lights on, dolts!

Was asked to go shoot in Evansville on Sat. I declined because the weather would be crappy.

They asked were I saw that forecast.

I said its February in Indiana. No brainer!

Looks like I was right.

I believe this one's going to be real: When you see things like "all models in pretty good agreement" in the NWS forecast discussion (even if it's a couple of days out), you can usually expect something.
At the moment (1130AES), it says "MAXIMUM SNOWFALLS APPROACHING 10 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE IN THE WARNING AREA [that's us] BY THE TIME ALL IS SAID AND DONE ON SATURDAY."

Weather Underground is good for getting detailed forecasts without all the hype and ratings-boosters ("OMG worst storm EVAR" etc.). And I do mean detailed; it's a weather geek site if ever I saw one.

I'm just glad that I won't have to venture out until at least Sunday morning.

The "comment removed" was me; I pooched the link the first time.

I usually add Weather Underground, Weather.com, and the forecasts from the Indy Star and Channel 13 and then divide by 4. ;)

The Full Color 360-Degree Ultra Doppler Weather Radar

What? It's not High Definition? No wonder they're wrong.
