Overheard in the Office...

Huck comes trotting down the hall, stops in the office door, rears as high up on his hind paws as possible, and begins gnawing at a spot on the door jamb almost three feet off the ground...

RX: "No, Huck! Don't eat the house!"

How did Huck get his name, anyway? Keep imagining a Twain connection.......

YOU MIGHT DISCOURAGE HIM FROM THE GNAWING ON THE MILLWORK TRIM DUE TO
THE HAZARD OF RESIDUAL LEAD PAINT

Perzactly. An adventurous red-headed boy cat, hence "Huck".

You can get stuff at the pet store that tastes like BLECH but doesn't smell (to us) and spray on the parts of the house that the animal is finding toothy.

Worked on my dog when she developed an ill advised interest in a table leg. One good lick and she never even gets near it anymore. The look on her face was priceless though: Imagine dog, sucking on lemon.

Anon 11:10,

The door jamb thing was a first, but I have seen him idly gnawing a windowsill while staring fixedly at a squirrel in the back yard...

Our puppy was chewing her tail. Vet recommended roll on anti-perspirant as an anti-chewing solution. Her tail has healed nicely. It might work for Huck's chewing.

REF TS ELLIOT"WITH THIS YOUR MEMORY I
SHALL JOG AND SAY AGAIN A CAT US NOT A DOG !"

A CATS BODY CHEMISTRY IS QUITE DIFFERENT
YOU MIGHT CHECK IF IT IS OK FOR THE CATNOSTRUMS ARE VERY SPECIFIC DOG PRODUCTS CAN CAUSE PROBLEMS CHECK WITH THE VET

I guess he's not getting enough roughage in his diet...

.45ACP+P: Or just get him a Korg toy and train him to be an attack cat.

He can spar with Kang.

That paints a picture!

The door frame could indeed be a lead paint issue and that's why I stopped him. The windowsill he was chomping on some months back is a recent replacement -- and he didn't eat it, just chewed it like a puppy.

And here I thought "Huck" was what it did with hairballs.
