While I'm trying to generate my own content...

...y'all can go nerd out on electronic hearing protection. Because science!

I thought the electronic hearing protection were kind of silly until I'd been shooting IDPA a few months.

I thought I heard "range clear" and hustled off to paste the target the stage designer saw fit to place 20 yards away.

What I had in fact heard was the end of the sentence "unload and show clear".

I was on the opposite side of the bay from the shooter and made it five yards downrange before anyone noticed.

I was wearing electronic for my next match.

That's a good piece you found.

A small tip from an old man: Never, EVER, place electronic muffs over your hearing aides!

I have a pair of MSA's and they do work very well. I give them to students so they can hear what I'm trying to tell them.

I have used them with a bone mike and the whole ranger set up. Very cool!

Truth in advertising: The MSA sales guys give them to us because they know we all shoot and play with some people they are trying to sell to.

Thanks for the link, Tam! That particular article was a fair bit of work, glad to see folks reading it.

I had no idea they were so effective or advanced. Huh.

I've loaned sets out at gunskool for line buddies. Keeps me from having to echo commands.

I recognize the range in the photo. It's the Livermore Rod and Gun Club in Livermore CA. Cool.

Anon -- that's probably why there's a link to LPRG in the bulleted list a little further down. :)

LPRG is an excellent example of a shooting environment that is nominally outdoors, but the shooting stations are an indoors-type acoustic nightmare.
