Scandal erupts as, for the first time in history, the United States Secret Service's Presidential security detail is busted procuring hookers for themselves.
"Uh, Blue Three, this is Blue Six. Bareback requests two blondes and a redhead. Uh, and pick up some more Nembutol for Pixie while you're out."
.
Definitely a candidate for headline of the year:
ReplyDeleteObama calls for 'rigorous' probe into Secret Service prostitution allegations
Thank you Tam and CNN, my morning is thoroughly and rigorously made.
-Rob
Why do I have a feeling the only reason we are hearing about this is that they forgot to share the wealth with someone important.
ReplyDeleteI remember reading an interview of a retired Secret Service agent who had worked the White House detail back in the '60's. He had spent an evening on duty mentally totalling up the crimes being committed as he stood watch in front of Jack Kennedy's bedroom in the White House, while the President entertained himself with two hookers and an impressive amount of illegal substances.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, back at the Lincoln Bedroom, Jackie was committing adultery with Frank Sinatra.
Sauce for the goose.....
Secret Service was just following White House protocol in regards to paying the women.

But Mr. President, it was the only place we found that had GSA rates for lodging and services.
ReplyDeleteGerry
I have been wondering since shortly after the inauguration how the Secret Service folk dealt with watching over someone that hates the Constitution so.
ReplyDeleteThis is probably a two-layer strategy on Obama's part. First, make sure the SS folk are entertained. Second, just in case the re-election buy doesn't go down clean, rig the SS so it is no longer in the practice of protecting patriots.
I think the important part of this story is that (Colombia?) the tone of this administration is *not* focused on service to America. The guy at the top sets the reverence for the law. Anyone that surrounds himself with panders all day long . .
Actually, the part I like about the story is the President's response, "If it turns out that some of the allegations that have been made in the press are confirmed, then of course I'll be angry". Wow. Restraint about getting angry seems to be a personal thing with this President. When the suspect is, you know, a protected class of citizen.
Has anyone asked Michelle, yet, if she was concerned that the Secret Service were the only ones importuned in Cartagena?
I've been reading a lot of "boys will be boys" commnets with regards to this, and my 2 cents is:
ReplyDeleteBringing hookers to the hotel room when you are on a trip is normal? (While on a presidential security detail, no less)
When did that become normal? Certainly *I* don't consider it normal, and I can't say it's ever come up in any guy to guy conversation I've ever had as normal or even common. (And in case you care it's not like I'm all devout, born again, live the some rural utopia, or anything.)
I guess I'll just crawl back under my rock.
Can't get over the feeling that this is a distraction while Teh Won gives away the store in Columbia.
ReplyDeleteAnon 10:19,
ReplyDeleteI haven't been out reading any commentary on it myself yet.
Why do I think there's more to this than meets the eye?
ReplyDeleteShould the headline have gone more along the lines of "Obama crew exploits working Latino women?"
ReplyDeleteThe first time I can remember hearing about the Secret Service was when one or both of the Clintons were in town and they went wacko on come old lady who had the gall to open a window in her probably no-A/C apartment in the middle of summer. Who else can call a business and say My boss wants to come by I need a list of your employees so I can dictate which ones you will be allowed to have work. this apparently broke because they got pissy when asked to pay for the "guest". Why does arrogance from them surprise anyone.
ReplyDeleteSecret Service Supervisors engaged in Human trafficing?
ReplyDeleteMove along folks, there's nothing to see here.
ReplyDeleteThe King's Sexual Service advance crew is hard at work and $47.00 under budget.
I have to agree with Rickn8or. This has probably been SOP for a long time, and it's now in the open to pull reader/viewer attention away from something even more damning.
ReplyDeleteStay safe
"Engaging in human trafficking" AKA picking up a hooker, is a UCMJ offense in today's military. The US Government makes great, big talk about it. So if SCOAMF's security detail is doing ti anyway, then it is, indeed, a Big F'in Deal.
ReplyDeleteNot that hypocrisy from this or any other DC crew surprises anyone...
Drang, don't you know: The only thing better than standards are double standards!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm charmed to know that if they'd be DOD, they'd be hanging by their balls in the public square already. Some animals are just a little bit more equal.
If in fact this became news because a hooker didn't get paid, and if the amount involved was $50 or so; how do you think all those agents will feel about the guy who cost them all their jobs over $50?
ReplyDeleteyeah, don't be a cheap skate. sheesh. you'll harsh the mellow for everyone.
ReplyDeleteLest we forget, they is nasty old foul people , just like the rest of us heathens.
ReplyDeleteNothing to see here, move along now.
Humanity at it's finest base instinct...
JD: If they rest of them knew what that agent was about to pull, they would have paid the whore, and given numbnuts a blanket party.
ReplyDeleteThe entire thing stinks...one generally doesn't hit the pinnacle of security work by being an utter moron.
ReplyDeleteThis isn't the first mistake his "team" has made...I suspect the hiring standards were made more lax to permit him to have more comfortable company..."more guns! less moral direction!"
I dunno...this just wasn't done before. (They may have witnessed ills but they did the job, cleanly...) It is the Why that escapes me. Why have they suddenly become inept and clumsy?
RL,
ReplyDeleteWhat is going to be funny, is when it turns out the lady holding out for $47.00 just figured to play the dude -- that this was a party that went private, there were no hookers anywhere to be seen (outside the O room).
That or the understanding was that the ladies would be paid by the Colombians, except this one lady tried to play both sides. Or was even a paparazzi shill, looking to shake up just exactly this kind of brouhaha.
I just think there is a chance it could turn out to be this thin a story. Probably not, but maybe.
And I do want to see the *complete* "guest" list to Obama's room. Shades of the movie "Dave"!
Turns out the Secret Service is taking the White House Communications Agency down with it. So, yeah, loss of clearance and UCMJ coming right up...

ReplyDeleteHeh...Wouldn't doubt it.
I almost married a girl from Cartegena in my wayward youth.
