It's been a long, cold, lonely winter...

Going Green
Ma Nature's gotten around to pulling out her spring wardrobe here...

(I hope the rosemary survived its second winter out there. The last one was so mild and the plant had gotten so big that I may have been overconfident about its hardiness...)

  1. Welcome Spring!

I was musing on Facebook earlier about how green everything was on my way home from the IDPA match today.

Glad to see you North of I-40 folk are getting yours too :)

  2. Spring is in full bloom here. Along with the pollen that turns everything yellow and makes me double up on the Patanase stuff.

  3. Uhh, what is winter? Is that the week it rained here?

  4. See what happens when you shovel your walks all winter long? Now you're gonna hafta hack away at all that green stuff all summer long just to get the yard all even again.

Can you tell I grew up in a desert?

Now that's some kind of buzz.

  5. Maybe you ought to quit flirting with being a good photographer and actually....BE one. This is an interesting image.

  6. Skip: Winter is the season that makes us appreciate spring, summer and fall that much more. Couldn't bear to live someplace where it never got cold. Besides, all that warm weather makes ya soft. :)

  7. More snow in Wyoming. Plant nothing here before May.

  8. This time of year is when I get envious of you Easterners. Lots of snow last week with more snow coming.

In Wyoming, March and April aren't spring - they're winter with more daylight.

  9. I see what you did there.

My niece did that same color selection thing for the first week she had her new point & click Nikon camera.

We gotta get you a proper DSLR, maybe a starter D70? I'll even throw in some lenses...

  10. "We gotta get you a proper DSLR..."

You know what wouldn't have been in my coat pocket while I was sitting there reading and suddenly thinking "Wow, the grass sure has gotten green all of a sudden... Kinda matches the Subie..."? ;)

I do want a DSLR, but that's gun money right there, and between the SX500, the little shirt-pocket Cyber-shot I picked up on demo model closeout the other day, and the 8MP camera in the current cell phone, most of my current photography needs are covered; beyond this is wants.

Too bad there's no way to convert my old AE-1 to digital, 'cause that'd be cool. :D

  11. I dunno Tam, I think your inherent attention to details would warrant the better optics - megapixels don't tell the whole story (Read Ken Rockwell). I also remember you saying you wanted to get into DSLRs, and I've been eyeballing nice used D50s and D70s on shopgoodwill.com that will go for this side of a Benjamin (that's only 100rds of steel-cased .223 at my local gun show). Your Sunday Smith photos and article submissions would definitely come alive with good glass. Know what I mean?

  12. G98,

" I also remember you saying you wanted to get into DSLRs, and I've been eyeballing nice used D50s and D70s on shopgoodwill.com that will go for this side of a Benjamin..."

I registered just now, which chased most all the reasonably-priced DSLRs off the map... :(

  13. Stay the course, Tam. Canon and Nikon stuff shows up every day. Be advised when viewing all the listings though, because "Squirrel!". ;-)

  14. Tam,

I see some of those Coolpix 990's listed. If you like yours, might be worth buying. Your replacement part comes with a complete camera attached!
