You know what got traded in today? A nice International Harvester Garand. It's now sitting on the rack right below the Harrington & Richardson Garand.
I can't remember the last time I saw an International Harvester and an H&R in the same gun shop at the same time.
Pretty cool... :)
Speaking of Garands, what do you think of the Civilian Marksmanship Program and the Garand's that they sell? I've been considering buying one someday, and was curious about any experience you've had with CMP rifles.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Really??
ReplyDeleteWhat's the International Harvester out for?
Oh, I do so want a Garand to call my own. I'd hug it and love it and call it..."my garand".
The H&R is $659, and the International Harvester is $799.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking about whipping up a package price. If someone already had a Springfield and a Winchester, they could yell "Bingo!" with only one 4473. ;)

ReplyDeleteThe CMP rifles are as advertised, and are maybe the only firearms purchase one could make today and be guaranteed to turn a profit on, were one so inclined.
As it happens, I have 2 CMP Garands, an IH and an H&R. The IH is completely IH, never rebuilt as best I can tell, and will do about 2.5 MOA. The H&R was rebuilt, and has a few Springfield parts and a new stock. With CMP surplus ammo (Lake City) - not match grade - it will hold a 1/2 inch group at 100 yards.
ReplyDeleteWish I could get that Garand; I have a 1903A3 that I think was made by National Harvester that I got 38 years ago for $45; used it for years hunting deer.
