If the intended purpose of S&W fixed sights includes hitting targets outside of say, a large walk-in closet, then I have to disagree that they are perfectly adequate.
Personnally, I like fixed sights on any carry gun. I know where the rounds impact from range pratice and they don't get out of adjustment. Generally don't worry about snagging on anything either.
As for accuracy, I get bored shootting at 25 yards at times and like to put clay pigeons on the 50 and 100 yard berms for fun. It's amazing just how close you get to them. Man sized tagets are no problem.
Hmmmnn, I don't have any problem with the sights on my 3" Model 65. I did add a touch of red to the front sight, but that's allowed.
It could be that the gun just points so naturally for me that the sights just kind of confirm the aim, instead of being absolutely neccessary to establish the aim.
I will admit that my 3" M-13 shoots a little to the left, and adjustable sights would be nice to fix that.
Another fan of the 3" K frames!
ReplyDeleteMore pics please!

I like 3" revolvers but I wonder if anyone thinks usable sights are good to have?
ReplyDeleteS&W fixed sights are perfectly usable for their intended purpose.
ReplyDeleteIf you want sights for bullseye shooting, however, you should probably buy a bullseye gun, not one that says "Military & Police" right on the box.

ReplyDeleteIt must just be my mad, 1337 shooting skillz, then...

I only have one addition, a better grip.
ReplyDeleteThe old standard revolver grips were a recipe for rapped knuckles with even moderate loads if you have large hands (and I do).
The ideal grips for these guns is probably anything with Craig Spegels name on them, or the uncle mikes copies thereof.
My favorite grips for a round-butt CCW K-frame are probably Eagle's "Secret Service" grips. Very similar to Spegel's "boot grips".
