The USSR? Nazi Germany? No, the United States of America. Read the transcript and tell me it doesn't turn your stomach.
Officer Franklin (reading aloud to a man with electrodes on his genitalia): "Then shut the fuck up then. 'This written permission is being given to me knowingly and voluntarily to the aforementioned officer of my own free will, without any threats, coercion, or any...'"...sense of irony, apparently.
At least they got sent to the pokey. Some of them for as little as 54 months. If there is any cosmic fairness, they will be put in the general population, and then perhaps real justice will be served.
Folks, there is almost no more heinous crime that can be committed than to abuse the public trust in such a fashion. When a guard dog gets bite-happy, you need to put it down. These men (and I use the term loosely) have smeared dung on the badge of every good lawman in the US. This is where the War On (some) Drugs has gotten us: Jackbooted thugs with a combat mindset torturing a man for information, with badges on their belts and warrants in their pockets, under the color of law.

Sadly enough, there are more than enough "freedom-loving" people on the pro-gun side who think the subject had no rights (or shouldn't have any) because he's a known crankhead and meth dealer.
ReplyDeleteI don't care if he was a known kiddie pornographer and dog buggerer. We have a Consititution for a freakin' reason in this country, and it ain't so Jethro can get his jollies Tasering suspect's nads.
ReplyDeleteIn a perfect world, they'd use those five deputies to make a big windchime.
How utterly repugnant. I think the victims of these sadistic perverts deserve an equal crack at them - general population in the pokey will make for a bit of equal time, I agree. I'll bet they're sweating bullets. Fair enough.
ReplyDeleteI don't know whether to be frightened, nauseated, or both...
ReplyDeleteI agree wholeheartedly, except this part:
ReplyDeleteIf there is any cosmic fairness, they will be put in the general population, and then perhaps real justice will be served.
Whether we like it or not, the sentence is the sentence, and should be it.
I would consider what you are wishing an extra-judicial punishment, something a society with the rule of law should not tolerate, no matter how cosmically just.
You have to wonder how many times this crew got away with something like this. Seemed to be standard procedure for them.
ReplyDeleteIf the wife hadn't left the tape recorder running in the kitchen, they probably would have gotten away with it this time.
I'm in law enforcement. We HATE these bastards and every other corrupt rat who breaks the law while drawing pay to enforce it.
ReplyDeleteSew them up in a sack with wild animals and throw it in the river.
I've known a few asshats like these. As Staghounds says, most other LE people hate them. Unfortunately, all too many of them either turn a blind eye or actively protect them.
ReplyDeleteAnd the damage they do multiplies because of it.
Well I am here to tell you... it is not just that crew, but most of the Campbell county Sherrif department, and this type of treatment has been going on there for several years, or at least as long as I can remember. I have seen it with my own eyes. It is the good-ole boy system in high gear, from the judges, local lawyers, and law-men. I think that the rest of the counrty should boycott every business in that Tennessee county and shut down any state funding for them as well. Crap should go in the crapper.
