My friend Kaylee is in town for the weekend, and we'll probably visit Oleg, so don't expect much between now and Monday morning.
I'll leave y'all with a cute illustration Kaylee did back in the day. It always makes me smile...
She's so artsy & talented.
Finally!
ReplyDeleteI've used that as a sig line on my emails n' such for years. I've usually envisoned various arms, but the Martini-Henry Mark IV works just right.
(I saved the pic with a "by Kaylee")

Rabbit: They're taunting us! Well, what are you waiting for? Come on then!
ReplyDeleteChristopher Robin: No, you couldn't be more wrong! They're saluting you! They're saluting fellow braves!
She's clever, too.
ReplyDeleteGives me a whole new take on "Zulu"...
ReplyDeleteSo that is the artist! I never knew but I've seen and enjoyed it for a long time!
ReplyDeletePooh at Isandlwana... gotta love it.
ReplyDeleteTam enjoys an ATF moment.
ReplyDeleteSo what does it take to get her to do a series of illustrations based on LawDog's .sig lines? (http://thelawdogfiles.blogspot.com/2006/12/twisted-sig-lines.html)
ReplyDeleteUgh...Marlboro menthols. One of my best friends smoked those way back in high school. We used to tease him unmercifully about that.
ReplyDeleteRegards,
Rabbit.
I generally preferred Marlboro Reds. Ain't had one in about 10 years. I'd love one, but I know what it'd do. I also found out that smoking the "occasional" pipeload of my favorite heavily-Latakia custom blend didn't work either; it's even more addictive.

This is Kaylee from THR? I loved that picture the first time I saw it and didn't know who did it.
ReplyDeleteAny chance I could get a large file suitable for printing as a poster? Or a ready made poster?
Kaylee did the artwork for me, I had used that sig line on my TFL and THR postings for a long time, and mentioned on THR that a Zulu War Pooh uttering those words would look just about perfect. Little did I know that she was busy doing just that, until:

Anybody wanna guess where she got a Martini-Henry to use as a model for the artwork?
Winnipeg Bear was in fact a British Army mascot, which the Milne family saw at the park when Chris was very young. I believe this was around 1914, so the uniform would be khaki rather than red.
