Hey, the Krag was mostly an army rifle. The USS Maine belonged, of course, the navy, which had its own RIFLE - - The 6mm Lee/Navy/Winchester/whatever. Now, THAT would be another proper collectible rifle. ;) Best, JPG
Remember the Main! They ditched the Lee as soon as they could, even the Marines preferred the Krag. Since I already have a Krag it made a good excuse to buy a 1909 Colt.
Only problem with "remember the Maine" is the reason it blew up was due to a fire in a coal bunker located next to a powder storage bunker. Major Whoops! Not the first or last ship lost to problems due to coal.
This is just the excuse to buy a Krag in 30-40, isn't it.
ReplyDeleteWhy would you need an excuse to do this?
