Here's an online petition for you to sign to express your displeasure with H.B. 1022 (this would be the awful, and awfully-written, new "Assault Weapons" Ban, for those of you just emerging from your caves after your long winter nap.)
Put on your nice clothes, wash behind your ears, and go sign it. And if you just can't resist using the "comments" blank, please use a spell checker and avoid four-letter words, death threats, bumper sticker slogans, or incoherent talk about revolution or the sooper-sekret UN invasion. In other words, do your best to appear sane and responsible. Thanks.

Thank you for taking the time to contact me regarding your
opposition to H.R. 1022, the Assault Weapons Ban and Law
Enforcement Protection Act of 2007. Your comments on this
important issue are greatly appreciated.
I support H.R. 1022 and reinstating the assault weapons ban,
because I support reasonable gun control policies to protect the
safety and welfare of American citizens and residents of the 38th
district. During its implementation from 1994 to 2004, the Brady
law allowed law enforcement officials to conduct over 41 million
background checks of prospective gun buyers, resulting in 790,000
denials, or about 2 percent. The overwhelming majority of these
denials were the result of the prospective buyer's felony or
domestic violence misdemeanor conviction. From 1993 to 2001,
firearm-related deaths for juveniles have decreased by an average
rate of 10% annually, for an overall decrease of 56%. Thirty-five
percent of all households include a gun owner-an indication the
Brady law has not infringed upon the rights of law-abiding
citizens. The Brady law simply fulfilled its purpose-keeping
guns out of the hands of criminals.
For me, this battle for sane gun control is not over. The deaths of
thousands of children due to gun violence every year indicate that
we still have a long way to go. Those of use who believe we must
close gun loopholes will continue to fight. I have spoken to
mothers who have lost children to violent crime. I promised them
I would work to establish laws and programs that help prevent the
additional loss of innocent lives. I intend to keep that promise. I
agree with 65% of the American public that sane gun control
should take precedence over the right to bear arms.
Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts. I hope you will
continue to keep me informed of your views on issues of concern
to you.

Forget the petition, go to www.house.gov - look up your Congressman/Congresswoman and tell them what you think. Also include a reference to the shortened career of Jim Zumbo.
