Darth Vader slams McCain and then panics some donations out of the GOP faithful by making book on Hillary winning all the marbles in '08. (He claims she's got an 80% shot.)
He thinks things look grim for the Repubs. Or is that just what he wants you to think?
(Personally, I think in a one on one national race, Hillary might edge Giuliani or Romney, but Fred Thompson would beat her like a drum. She would look like a shrieking harpy on stage next to Mr. Folksy, and your average American just isn't ready to vote for the Shrew over the baritone Paterfamilias. They'd better run somebody with more charisma than Rudy or Mitt, though, because to your average Survivor-watching 'Murrican who reads no news other than the sports page, those are just another couple of white guys in suits, but they know and trust D.A. Arthur Branch and Admiral Painter because the TeeVee and Tom Clancy told them to. )
Ain't clickin' on no linkys right now to know why Lord Vader figures in this, but I'll say this: you summed up the race pretty nicely.
ReplyDeleteMy current thoughts..... place Thompson as my first pick of this particular little.
ReplyDeleteHis actual government experience might be rather limited, but I regard that as a good thing. A Veeeerrrry good thing.
The last thirty or forty years of elected government officials remind me of the flying monkeys from the Wizard Of Oz. Pretty much useless for anything but theft and destruction, no matter how you dress them up.
I meant 'Litter', not 'little'.
ReplyDeleteYes, I am an idiot. Thanks for noticing.
Tam, I just read your parograph 'o snark to my wife, and her reply way (in all seriousness) "Wait, Rudys a republican? I thought he was a democrat. hes from New York, right?"
ReplyDeleteI just about died laughing! She tuned red, cause she really was serious. I lost it again and took a white out pen to the head for my troubles!!
The FemSlug is likely to win simply because it starts with at least 30% of the vote plus most of the mainstream media as its campaign organization. I'd like to see it get thoroughly salted in the campaign, but none of the Repub field strikes me as good enough to get the kind of support needed to win. Fred Thompson would make a better president (then again, a pile of horse manure would make a better president than the FemSlug), but so far he hasn't exactly been an electrifying campaigner. And the election generally goes to the better campaigner, not the candidate who will make the better President.
ReplyDeleteFred Thompson and Karl Rove in 2008, now wouldn't that get the libs panties in an uproar
ReplyDeleteAt what point will a TV/movie career be a required item on a politicians resume?
ReplyDeleteIT will be a sad sad day when this country will be choosing from the former host of "Let's Make a Deal" or "The Price is Right" for the job of Most High and Revered Nanny Master.
Mr Fixit
OH, and is it too late to get Ron Paul on a show?
ReplyDeleteI think a lot of Hillary's "popularity" is manufactured by the MSM. Not to dismiss her as a threat to the GOP, but a big minus for her is that she is, indeed, a her. She still has to get the nomination, and female presidential contenders have historically not done well.
ReplyDeleteNot to mention, she has less government experience (in office) than most of the hopefuls.
"She still has to get the nomination"
ReplyDeleteShe already has, in the minds of most.
When's the last time you heard a peep about Obama or Edwards in the media? The newspapers and CNN have dropped Obama like a live grenade and become the 'all-Hillary, all the time' show.
Obama and Edwards can't fight that kind of free ad campaign.
Mr. Fixit,
ReplyDeleteI like Ron Paul, too, but you can't run a campaign without appearing on TV, and every time he does, he convinces half of America he's either a Truther or a Bircher. The man's his own worst enemy.
I don't have as much against an acting resume as some might. But the trouble with actors is (speaking of Darth Vader), who'd settle for Rear Admiral Painter when you can go whole hog with
ReplyDeleteAdmiral Greer?
I'm warning you: if you build it, they will come.
I'm not building anything; I'm describing what is.
ReplyDeleteThe people who are going to vote in my next president are the same vapid-headed proles who made "reality TeeVee" a going proposition.
Tam,
ReplyDeleteIt's possible that Hillary will get the nomination, simply because the Dems think she is the best bet. I'll agree with you there. I think Obama was sunk after his name and "Muslim" appeared in the same sentence.
I do wish Fred would turn up the tempo a little bit, I really don't want to spend years under a socialist president and a weak-willed Congress.
It's Hillary's race to lose in the primaries. She's a shoo-in. Edwards is a bimbo who couldn't win his home state in 2004 and Obama is inexperienced and says dumb things (like proposing the invasion our nuclear-armed ally, Pakistan).
ReplyDeleteI like Thompson. The problem I see with him in the election is that he doesn't have a campaign machine. He also has no executive experience, which is a knock on Congresscritters as candidates in general.
Fred and Condi. A good way of neutralizing that rabid feminist BS that Fred will surely get, and maybe pick up a few angry white males in the process.
ReplyDeleteHilary would look (and sound) like a shrill harpy no matter WHO she was next to, because that's EXACTLY what she is!
ReplyDeleteSo far I think Fred and Duncan Hunter make the best ticket. Hunter is very solid and will bring California.
ReplyDeleteI want to see the Clintons shut out.
# 9
How about a Thompson/Gingrich(SP) ticket. Watch all the demo heads explode.
