Mmm-mm! Home cookin' at McDonalds!

I tried an experiment yesterday that turned out amazingly well. Order your McRib at Mickey Dee's sans sauce and rehydrated onions and when they give it to you, ask for a container of that smoked chipotle BBQ sauce they have for their chicken McThingies and slather that on the pork patty instead. The result is surprisingly yummy.

(Everybody else has been putting recipes on their blogs, so there's mine. :-D )

  1. Although most recipes I've seen call for you to actually cook something. :)

  3. Is there not a place where you can get a real pulled pork sandwich nearby?
That stuff from Mcd. is almost soylent green.

  4. Plenty, but Mickey Dee's is the only food place accessible on foot from work, and I was heartily sick of everything on their menu, most of which borders on the inedible. (Except their fries. Their breakfast biscuits and McMuffins are tolerable, too.)

  5. You can get a McRib down there?

I had a few in Maine in the late 80s IIRC and they were never seen again.

Also you guys have Biscuits and Gravy? LUCKY

Well we're talking about McD's so maybe not...

  7. Weerdbeard, don't y'all Maine-ers get the McD's Lobster Roll? I'm sure it resembles a real lobster roll about like a McRib resembles real BBQ, but you never know. The McRib isn't the worst fast food sammich I've ever eaten...

You never know with regional differences. McD fries in Ontario were awesomely good, 'cause they were still frying 'em in rendered beef fat. OTOH, there was that cheese-curd/gravy/fries "Poutine" abomination that I'll speak no more of...

McD's in Silver City, NM piled grilled Hatch chili peppers on the burgers, which miraculously made them edible.

I've heard McD's in Hawaii serves Spam, Egg & rice bowls. Go figure...

  8. You are truly a domestic goddess. I carbo-load on their "hash-browns" before matches.

  9. The McRib is a wonder, a pork-like food product that can be frozen forever and yet retains it's essential qualities, such as they are. It is a little known fact that mickey dee's only made one production run of the McRib back in the '80's. Every so often they are released from long term storage and unleashed upon an unwary America.

  11. Tam posted a recipe on her blog.

Isn't that one of the signs of the coming Apocalypse?
