Skin that smokewagon.

As someone who owns a bunch of 3" and 5" Smith & Wesson N-frames, I was tickled pink to find a link to this website: Simply Rugged Holsters.

I reckon I'll put in an order for a sharkskin holster for my 5" 625 next month. I'll let y'all know how it goes.

I have to tell you, this guy has found a good niche market. If you have a 3" or 5" N-frame (or a Redhawk or Anaconda) your holster options from the big name mass production companies are somewhere between slim and none.

  1. Since you happened to mention hard-to-find holsters... *g*

Any thoughts on where I could find a decent holster for my Colt Lawman? I have the unique ability to find the truly bizarro firearms that no one makes ANY aftermarket parts for - witness my futile search for VEPR .308 magazines...

    Thanks!

  2. Vepr mags have you looked at ak-47.net ? Or call the importer directly.
Thanks for the good word on simplyrugged.com. We DO build a lot of rigs for the 3" & 5" guns.
    Thanks!

  3. I'll eagerly await your review. I bought a holster for my 5" Redhawk a while back and was amused to find it fit my S&W 1917 much better. So I'm still in the market for a Redhawk holster.

Of course, the fact that I'm left-handed makes it tougher.

Funny, I would have thought you'd go
    for the snarkskin.

  5. "Skin that smokewagon."

When I heard that in the movie, I couldn't help but think it belonged on late night Skinimax.

  6. I always like a good holster, but really, trying to get a pancaker inside the waistband with a revolver is...well...uncomfortable.

  7. I have one for a 3" 629. It even has cartridge loops! It "looks" like a very generic holster put it fits perfectly.

  8. You could also try http://andrewsleather.com Sam's stuff is top notch and if you're willing to wait, he does a fabulous job. Most of the stuff he features on his website are autoloaders, but look at the "MacDaniel II Crossdraw" to get a taste of his revolver stuff and click also on his magazine pouches link to see his speedloader pouches.

  9. Okay readers, a challenge - I need a shoulder holster for a J frame snubby. It needs to fit a lady built like Dolly Parton, but shorter. Any suggestions?

    Not without pictures.

  11. Rob Leahy (who IS Simply Rugged) will make holsters for just about anything. His quality is constantly improving. PLUS he's a heck of a nice guy. I've got his holsters for my Ruger Old Army, Colt Detective Special (3"), S&W 642, 629, 25-2 and others... He's just what we needed, good holsters at a good price and a good guy with whom to deal.

  12. I'm sorry, that holster just looks ugly. Here's one that I made for my 5" model 29 (it even has sharkskin)

It can be worn as a strong side holster or cross-draw. I'm also working on one with stingray skin trim instead of shark.
