For the geeks...

...my latest column is up at LEM.

  1. My first computer was a PowerBook 100. Had no end of trouble with the power supply. Like so many problems with electronic equipment, it started out as a quirk: having to jiggle the power cord plug on the computer end into just the right position in order to get power to the computer. Multiple repairs followed by multiple repeated failures, then the foolish decision to replace the 100 with a newer model PowerBook that had - you guessed it - the exact same problem. That's when Mac lost me: I've been a not-entirely-pleased Windows user ever since.

  2. I'm stickin' with my Kaypro. Just gimme a dial-tone, and I'm good to go.
