Unpossible.

In Japan, the hand can be used like a knife.

So, apparently, can a knife.

They should ban those things, or something.

Sue the Japanese auto industry, those damned merchants of death.

  3. ...killing at least 7, in a video game district of downtown Tokyo...

Probably should ban those damned video games too. That'll help.

  4. Since bans work so well, maybe they should ban killing people that haven't got it coming.

    That would solve the problem.....

  6. The Akihabara district, where the attack took place, specializes in electronic gadgets and video games and is popular with people interested in comic books and distinctive fashion

  7. Yep. They should ban flip-flops too. When I was a kid and wouldn't listen to mom, she'd whip off a flip-flop in a split second and whale on my ass with it.

Let's ban everything and all stay locked in our homes and just live life on the Internet.

I'm sure if we did that, the moonbats would find something wrong with that and want to ban it too.

  8. Was the weapon in question a Ginsu? See, that's your problem right there. Too much late night TV and video games.

  9. what a tremendous comfort it is to know their government has effectively prevented lunatics from going on murderous rampages.

  10. Ben, only one way to know for sure. See if it can slice a tomato after hacking through bone.

  11. They should ban hands. I can see it now: "Japan, Nation of Amputees."

But then some nutjob would get the idea to sharpen his prosthetic hook and go out slashing people with that.

After that, mandatory lobotomies for everyone.

  12. breda: could a sharpened prosthetic hook be a backup for you too...?

let's see 'em throw up some "hook-free zone" signs at that library of yours...

you could back up a bit and say...
"'scuse me while i whip this out" (courtesy marko)...scary.

  13. D4: Think of that area as the Japanese version of Soho circa 1960's- hipster town. Only it's Japan and the aughts, so we get comics and video games instead of rock music and theater. The fashion is just as ridiculous as mod was, though.

Knives are as standard for Japanese spree killings as black trench coats are for American ones. I had it in my head that there was actually a word in Japanese specifically for it, but a fast Google isn't turning up anything, so maybe that's my brain fart.

  14. Cordon off Seki City. Hold a UN tribunal to investigate rampant knife and sword trafficking. It is that damn "Samurai waving a Blade" culture running amok over there.
