Well, what have we here?

Why, if I didn't know better, I'd say that the Obama campaign wanted me to use their logo, since they make it available for frickin' public download.

  1. Yeah, but only if you support Ba®a©k Obama.

  2. Oops- the bottom of the page says:

" By downloading the Obama for America ("OFA") logo from this site, you agree that you will use the logo only for your personal, non-commercial use. You cannot market, promote, sell, or exchange anything that bears this logo. To avoid having to register with the FEC, you should limit your printed flyers, posters, or other materials for any event to 500 or fewer."

  3. Yeah, but he wants to steal from us, so our swiping his logo is just professional courtesy.

Besides, I don't see any copyright, trademark or "registered" marks.

  4. You got off lightly - for now. Wait until the National Reconciliation Tribunal subpoenas you. I expect the trials to begin around March '09. You won't get any advance warning from Fox because they'll have been shut down the day after Inauguration, as will talk radio and the Internet.

Only for the duration of the emergency, of course.

  5. Imagine the logo is a pie, cut out a larger piece for the "disadvantaged" blogger in you, and leave the rest for Obama 2008. That's change we can believe in.

It ought to teach him right for ending a sentence with a preposition.

  6. At least he is not trying to distribute copies of his book, "The Mendacity of Hope", at public expense -- yet.

  7. I wrote them. My email:

Your decision to engage in fascism by erasing legitimate political speech (i.e., parody) sends a chill down the spine of this nation. As a business, you can do whatever you want, but the Obama merchandise submitted by blogger Tam was clearly parody, well within the bounds of Fair Use, and your ridiculous insinuations to the contrary are absurdly transparent. It's all about free speech until a Democrat gets his feelings hurt, isn't it?

    Their response:

    Thank you for contacting CafePress.com!

Please note that the use of the Obama logo for commercial advantage is prohibited by the Obama campaign. By not allowing it used on our site for commercial advantage we are merely obeying the law.

    My response:

Fair use for parody is allowed, even for profit.

You're mistaken, and you're acting like fascists.

So, are you going to take down the stuff about McCain, or is that ok because it's a Republican?
