Time to point the Bimmer towards Hoosierville again. If you don't see a post by me this evening, it means I'm playing Children of the Corn somewhere between Cincy and I-465.
The only downside to long trips in the Bavarian Cruise Missile is that the seat sits somewhat low to the floor when compared to a sedan or SUV. When they screwed my leg back together in Summer of '00, they apparently only had one size of sheet metal screws handy. As a result, the end of one screw pokes out the backside of my shin bone up near my knee and when my leg is held in certain positions, it can twinge painfully against the tendons abaft my knee assembly. One of those painful positions is the one my leg is in while depressing the throttle on the superslab. Lor' bless cruise control...
Have a safe trip! You'll get back just in time for the State Fair.
ReplyDeleteA nice alternative route is to take I-64 from Lexington over to Louisville, then up I-65. A nice drive either way.

ReplyDeleteWhich is one reason I prefer SUV's and pickup trucks; many passenger cars have seats set down to where they put a bad strain on my bad back, and put me in agony in just a few miles.
When do you get the screw taken out? At this point, what is the purpose of the screw? Surely your shin bone has healed by now.
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain, the old Ghia (more a rattley buzzbomb than cruise missile) had low seats too and many miles to cross - practically on the floorboards - the view from my pickup is much more grand and spacious.
ReplyDeleteI was only ever a passenger in one, but I don't remember the little Bimmer being particularly comfortable.
ReplyDeleteI actually prefer being low to the ground though.
I hear you. I have a screwhead sticking out of my left elbow a fraction of an inch under the skin.
ReplyDeleteI keep hitting doorjambs with it.
My cerebellum just refuses to alter my internal body image to include the damned thing.
Yeah, get that screw removed. No need to suffer after all.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a safe and enjoyable ride home.
Maybe it's just me, but there's probably a good reason the screw is still there. Don't get me wrong, I know damn near everybody on the interweb is a professional, but...
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem but it's the screw in my hip that bothers my. And YES I love Cruise Control.
ReplyDeleteSyay safe..
Those Corn Kids would be damn proud to have you!
ReplyDeleteWhen I goofed my right knee the first time they put some screws in the upper part of my shin just under the knee. Getting into kneeling position for air rifle competition really sucked.
ReplyDeleteSince I goofed my knee again, they took the screws out and put zombie flesh (cadaver tendon) in instead. Feels much better now, except for the urge to eat brains and shamble sometimes...
I don't know about Tam, guys, but in my case the screws are forever (they hold the titanium bar that takes the weight in place of the missing section of bone).
ReplyDelete112 days in place, & I'm already finding how many things you can tap that remind you that DAMMIT THERE'S A SCREW THERE!!! (Emphasis by the screws, not me.)
