The greek reads "Molon Labe" in English. When the Persians offered to let the Spartans at Thermopolae walk away alive, the only requirement was that they lay down their weapons. Leonidas replied "If you want our weapons, Molon Labe". It means "Come and Get Them".
The 'decoration' of ordinance like that is not restricted to any branch or unit. Pretty much anyone who thinks they can get away with it will add a few loving touches, usually with an actual AO or equivalent nearby to make sure they don't screw anything up. Hell, I got to, and I didn't even work in aviation.
Over and over on ours, in GW1, we chaulked in "Louisiana Wrecking Krewe", and added our names, all Louisiana boys.... XB, Lil' Roo, Stew Dawg, Whip, and Natch.
What would be Greek for "Here, have some"?
ReplyDeleteThat is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMan, it is dusty over there.
ReplyDeleteHell fucking yeah! I think I have a new background picture for my work computer.

ReplyDeleteI didn't know the Marines operated Predators. But that sure looks like a Marine sense of humor at work.
ReplyDeleteNo, if it was a Marine job they'd've put the Peace sticker on the Hellfire's lens.
ReplyDelete(I admire and respect Marines really, I just couldn't resist the gag...)
Every time I see those lenses, I can't help but have the image of some teeeeeeny little pilots behind it.

What's with the bumper sticker in Russian?
ReplyDeleteJust kidding!
Could it also be loosely translated as, "Come get some!"
