Could be worse. Way back in the day, my IBM 13" VGA display actually caught fire when it crapped out.And now that I think about it: it was not only a mere 4-5 weeks after the holidays, it was 2 weeks after my son was born.

What res? Is the panel still good? What's the diagonal measurement on the panel? I am collecting parts for a project. I'd hate to tear apart a new monitor just for the panel.
At least you didn't have to buy four new truck tires. I don't think they even make 15-inch monitors anymore.
I've noticed that if you ever have a little extra dosh lying about, some crisis will pop up to absorb said dosh. Sucky, that.
