This should tickle the lefties...

The Eeeeeevil Secret Büshführer Armies of Blackwater, Inc. didn't get one of the new licenses required for armed private security contractors in Iraq. Who's next biggest? And are they publicly owned? 'Cause those VIPs, NGOs, and malls ain't just gonna guard themselves. Yet.

Looks like there might be a near-term slump in the secret ninja army job market, though. Things are tough all over.

  1. My contacts inside a competitor but still in the same League of Evil (the company name sounds like "thrice covered overhead fabric") e-mailed me yesterday reporting that this was good news for them.

Well, at least the "catching flying metal for important people" business is not suffering during the Obama economy.

  2. DoS apparently has been talking to DynCorp and Triple Canopy.

Whichever one gets the contract will turn around and hire a lot of the same guys who were working for Blackwater, doing the same jobs.

The alternative is to use soldiers or marines to provide security for the State Dept folks, which would tie up a a bunch of troops for something not much related to actually accomplishing a military mission.

  4. What ever happened to Sandline and Executive Outcomes? I mean if you are gonna start a "private military company" why name it DynCorp?
