Les is reporting that Tuff Products is offering strip-style shell carriers for revolvers (a la the Bianchi Speed Strips) for larger calibers.
This is awesome for those of us who liked the flat strips that stowed easily and unobtrusively in a pocket, but carried wheelguns in calibers other than .38/.357.
I'll be getting some in .44 and .32, no doubt.
How difficult is it to use one of these speed strips? I've never handled one, or seen one in use, but it would be nice to have some extra ammo when I'm carrying a revolver.

They're easy to use. Not nearly as fast as the perfect speedloader -- the Safariland -- but pretty easy.
ReplyDeleteI picked up a pack in 44 at the gunshow I attended in Feb. As much chatter as they've been getting online, you'd think Bianchi would have wanted a piece of that pie for themselves.

Bottom line is, there's scant difference between the strips and a round speedloader if'n you practice...

Does anybody make something like a flexible moon clip for a revolver chambering .45ACP, so that reloads for that can be carried flat?

ReplyDeleteWell,JHardin, you could use the appropriate size tuff-strips and stuff em with .45 Auto Rim. Black Hills loads that stubby little round with 255 grain Keith bullets. They shoot nice in my 4" 625, and would most likely shoot through whatever/whomever needed shooting through.
ReplyDeleteI finally(!) bought a set of the Bianchi Speedstrips today. Much better than the SKS stripper clips that I have been using for my .38 snubs.

ReplyDeleteAs for 45 moon clips, how about Half-Moon clips, which if I recall was the original design from before WWI? I don't think anyone still makes them, but I have seen them on a vintage gun owned by an elderly friend. Speaking of which, I really want that old Webley he has.
