Happy Patriots' Day!

"By the rude bridge that arched the flood,
Their flag to April's breeze unfurled,
Here once the embattled farmers stood,
And fired the shot heard round the world"

Happy Patriots' Day to each and every one of y'all. :)

  2. As I recall, "the shot heard round the world" missed -- the British suffered no casualties at Lexington, although they took some hits on the march back to Boston.

Or do I mis-remember? Enlightenment, anyone?

  3. Um,...isn't that rather right wing extremesty to mention something like that? I mean, being so historical and all isn't really in fashion nowadays, unless it's been made more palatable to todays sensibilities. I think those people may have been terrorists, from what I understand now.

  4. The Brits fired first, possibly only with powder charge and then charged with bayonets, killing some of them. The real battle started at Concord where the Militia wounded and killed several British.

  5. Happy Patriot's Day to all, but let's not forget it also marks the day showing how expensive it is to be right when the government is wrong.

  7. Ironic that our (first) Revolution started over taxes and guns.

  8. More ironic is that it started over taxes that were ridiculously tiny compared to those we pay today, and the guns that the government was going to seize were cannons.
