The ammo shortage explained...

...with beer!

  1. Well, I don't drink beer, but I have started stocking up on ammo. People don't really horde beer, since it goes bad, but plenty of people are hording ammo, and trying to resell it for ridiculous amounts.

  3. This is game theory; something close to my heart, and my industry, twice over (retail non-electronic games). Still, even within this industry, this happens to us on a regular basis, for the reasons stated. We also have a lot of people in the industry who like to gamble in Las Vegas, which also makes no sense.

  4. "Once you get outside of Wal-Mart, and maybe Cabela's, it's a fragmented sector of small retail gun shops, with little to no IT infrastructure and working through at least one level of distribution, along with a smattering of specialist online vendors."

What makes this interesting is that (again, only from what I've seen), Wal-Mart is in worse shape than the 'fragmented sector'.

  5. Thing is, while your local WalMart has a great IT infrastructure, they really don't stock all that much ammo. But everyone thinks they do, and so they're shocked when WalMart runs out.
