It could have been worse.

Thankfully I just clipped a buzzard rather than centerpunching the bejeezus out of Bambi at warp factor six.

  1. Ouch. Bad place to be a deer.

  2. If that was a Reh it was proabably less than 35lbs.

Wild boars are a much greater danger to drivers in Germany. At +300lbs they'll hit your car where it really hurts (the car).

  3. A quick and merciful death, albeit an expensive one. But that looks more like a roe deer than a 150 pound Virginia whitetail. 35 to 50 pounds of venison in the air cleaner.

Bambi is a good choice of words, Felix Salten's Bambi was indeed a roe deer.

  4. Cleaning up a mess like that will definitely show who the junior-est mechanic in the shop is.

  6. One of the guys I used to motorcycle around with has taken-out at least four deer on our twisty mountain backroads - variouis injuries ensued.

  7. And no aftermarket parts to bolt on!

Seriously, BMW owes him a new car in exchange for the publicity.

  8. If he had only thought to put some chili powder and some beans into the air cleaner first, he'd have had some nice Bambi Chili by the time he got home.

  9. Gee, we used to just toss ours into the trunk. Never thought about trying to pack it into the engine compartment.

What do you think Game and Fish would have said if they had stopped him?

  10. As T.Stahl says, had that been a pig, it would have been found in the back seat.

Around here, if you hit a whitetail with a Taurus, it goes over the hood, through the wind screen, and into the back seat. Evisceration occurs at the windscreen. Very colorful.

  11. I'm betting that the driver's seat and his underoos had to be replaced as part of the repair.

    :-)

  12. Actually I meant that a pig would wreck the car. They are low enough not to come at you over the hood and through the windscreen.* But your radiator would be toast and even the frame of the car might suffer.

*) Ok, unless you're driving a wedge on wheels.
