Good Cop, Bad Cop.

So, yesterday I made fun of the interim chief of the Chico, California police department for wetting his pants at the thought of simple civilians with carry permits.

In contrast to him, here in Indiana, there is Sheriff Ken Campbell of Boone County. Sheriff Ken is an adjunct instructor at Gunsite. Sheriff Ken likes for the good guys to be armed and trained and safe. Sheriff Ken brings some of the best-known firearms instructors to the Boone County Sheriff's Department, and lets good guys like you and me sign up for their classes.

Sheriff Ken is running for reelection this year. Won't you help re-elect Sheriff Ken?

  1. Wow. The official VftP endorsement.

Watch for Sheriff Campbell to win in a landslide...

  2. I would vote for him but living in Spokane Washington the bad guys would cry foul though they do it all the time. Any way I can help tho!

  3. actually, no...

i think instead i will offer sheriff ken a nice free home with pool in sunny fla and all the oranges he can eat to lure him down here to oust barbie from office and return some common sense and actual, you know, law enforcement experience to the job.

i mean we've got about 90% of the cottontop hoosiers down here anyway, so he should feel right at home.

but thanks for the contact info, tam. be sure to tell ken "bye" before he heads south.

  6. In August '06 I took a series of classes hosted by Ken Campbell and the Boone County Sheriff's Department.

Ken and the guys there welcomed a 'Kalifornean' with open arms. When my carbine took a dump, they futzed with it to ferret out the issue (gun dealer had swapped out my buffer tube for non-GI stuff prior to delivery).

Louis Awerbuck (Yavapai Firearms Academy) has a standing two week series of classes in mid-August.

  8. Chico is a Lefty college-town in the heart of Redneck California. At one time (1974?) it was #1 with a bullet on the Playboy List of Top National Party Colleges - which was what induced my older brother to find attendance there, an institution that otherwise held no attraction for him.
Circumnavigating the surrounding woody-hills around Lake Orville on a dirtbike one day enabled us to discover such homeless-like encampments as would be Hillbilly Heaven, repleat with forest-bound washer and dryer, and the many ubiquitous blue-tarps. That and the scary guy with a shotgun and a dog guarding his pot plantation who advised us to move-along.
