  2. [i]She slipped the case [containing two Civil War-era revolvers] into a sturdy Lord & Taylor shopping bag and took a taxi six blocks to meet appraiser Greg Martin in midtown Manhattan, N.Y.[/]

Wouldn't that make her a felon in NYC?

  3. Not sure if cap-and-ball revolvers are covered by New Yawk City's inane anti-Irish gun laws.

  4. Even if they technically aren't per statute, like flintlock muskets they're certainly criminalized under the "Bloomberg corollary" to NYC law.

  5. Cool!

They never tell in these articles that commission will be a third, and that the buyer will pay another 20% or so.

The tax man may take a chunk, too- they are inherited, but I expect that since she held them and didn't list them in the estate, she'll have to cough up a bit.

She should have put them on Gunbroker...

  6. Heh, coincidence strikes... This year's second show of the UK Antiques Roadshow (season 32, show 2, early September) features a cautionary tale about almost the same model, purchased by the show's expert, who found out it was a fake after he bought it - an Italian-made reproduction someone went to great pains to modify to appear antique.
