On the other hand...

Went to dinner at the Brugge Brasserie with Brigid and Bobbi. A pretty darn good time was had by all.

The sun had come out and Broad Ripple was even more crowded than usual for a pleasant late summer evening. It turned out that there was some sort of footrace going on. At least I assume it was a footrace; there were a bunch of people running, and none of them appeared to be pursued by anything and they weren't chasing after anybody, either. Also, they had numbers pinned to their shirts.

Last time I ate at Brugge, I had the moules frites done up in their Provencal style, and this time I tried the steak frites. Both dishes were flat awesome (although it's a dirty trick to bury that awesome steak under all those frites.) Next time you're in Broad Ripple, you should give them a try!

I'm feeling a bit cheerier already. It's hard to be glum with a tummy full of steak.

  1. If it runs like a race and folks have numbers on like a race.....its a race!
Good for them. Lot's of fun to take over the public streets and run down the center line in a big group. Liberating.

  2. Friend who was an exercise fanatic was upset when I said I didn't like to run because my knees don't like it; "What if someone's chasing you?"

    "That's what hollowpoints are for."

I don't know if he ever realized I was serious.

  3. My new apartment (once I'm moved into it in October) is within biking distance of the Monon at 96th street. I will definitely check this place out!

  5. Well, exercise or yummy eating; either one is a proven depression fighter.

Observing other people exercising whilst you eat?

Decadently rewarding, and sure to relieve those mental storm clouds.

  6. It's really hard to be depressed when eating or cooking good food. I had no idea there was so much variety there in Hoosierville. Hopefully my sweetie and I get to sample some of said variety next year while in the area to watch the MotoGP race. I gotta see those crazies live once in my life.

  7. I'm remodeling a house on Westfield blvd on the canal and yes you can and will see everything in Broadripple. Have not been to Bruggies but I have been hitting as many food joints in the area as possible. For fun try the shaved ice across the road, awesome. PS if you would like to buy the house please bring 2000 100 dollar bills in a suitcase, I will dicker.

  8. The only Gordon Biersch I have ever gone to is in Honolulu, beneath the Aloha Tower. At least half the time I have their steak frites, which is darn good.

    Darn. Good. 'scuse my French.
