The thin-chested stick-armed small-g gods. I try to avoid Whole Foods an hour after lunchtime when the vegan bean farters cruise the aisles on a cloud of gas.
Qdoba's OK. They have one very convenient to the salt mines. Occasionally I get a "two for one" coupon for their burritos, two poblano pesto burritos will last me three or four days. I think there's a Chipotle nearby, too, but I haven't tried it. No taco trucks in the area. Of course, most of the restaurant workers are Mexican...
Did you know that beans were tref or haram, or whatever the equivalent was, to the Romans?
Come to New Mexico. We will serve you burritos as they were meant to be eaten- for breakfast, filled with hash browns, eggs, cheese, the color chile of your choice, and the meat product of your choice. I favor chicharron.
Hey! My favorite aunt is from Questa! Check out the history. Very independent-minded people. Very proud of their Conquistador heritage. They ran the appointed judge out of town back in the 60s, if I remember correctly. Don't mess with the Romeros. They will bring all kinds of hell down on you including their Marine kith and kin.
Also the broke-ass starving artist gods, apparently.
ReplyDeleteHow does Buddha get his god like body anyway?
ReplyDeleteQdoba? Never tried it, although there are a few around here.
ReplyDeleteChipotle, now...that stuff is like crack.
Beans and rice, suitably spiced, taste good. They're healthy. I fail to find a drawback to 'em.
ReplyDeleteI'm just not much on the texture of the legumes, and the only time I dig the cereals is when they're used as binders for meats and veggies.

ReplyDeleteI had a chicharrones burrito, smothered in green chile, at the Questa Cafe in Questa, NM a few years ago. Tiny little burg north of Taos. Wow.
ReplyDeleteRice and beans belong outside the burrito. :P
