Coats, whose most challenging political task thus far has been filling Dan Quayle's 6A golf cleats as Senator from Hoosierville, is now stumping around the state to rally the faithful.
Unfortunately, nominating a guy who voted for the Brady Bill and the '94 Assault Weapons ban and then has the cheek to stand up and lie to a crowd about how he supports Second Amendment rights isn't exactly a way to rally anybody but the most blindly faithful, people who would reflexively vote for Chairman Mao if you stuck an (R) after his name, ("Hey, Mao didn't like gays and he was strong on defense! That makes him conservative, right? Besides, you wouldn't want the Democrat to get in!")
Needless to say, some people are less than amused:
There was one detractor in the audience. Kirk Freeman of Lafayette asked Coats some pointed questions about his voting record on gun control, referring to votes Coats made in the 1990s.Coats explained why he made exceptions on two votes and said he supports Second Amendment rights.
"Why should we believe you now?" Freeman asked.
Freeman said he's a Republican but did not vote for Coats in the primary. He does not plan to support him in the fall.
Get bent, Coats, you prevaricating has-been. I wouldn't vote for you if the only other guy on the ticket was Chairman Mao; at least he doesn't lie about what he wants to do to me.
Outstanding! Good work.
ReplyDeletethe Indiana GOP machine, an organization so dense that a black hole would float on it,
ReplyDeleteNow that's quality snark. I'll have to remember that one.
...waiting for GOP catcalls against carpetbagger Hillary to start against Coats.... both are deserving of scorn.
ReplyDeleteGosh, that Kirt Freeman guy sure is kool. :)

ReplyDeleteIndiana politics give me baboon butt.
However, I wanted to say that LawDog is ON FIRE lately. I still remember his early post about a 1917 snubby, which wins massive cool points, since yr. hmb'l srv't also had one. However, anyone who has three posts in a row involving S.M. Stirling, the etymology of swashbuckling, and spice weasels, that's on fire.
Umm, never mind the "three in a row" thing. More coffee, more coffee, more coffee.
ReplyDeleteEvery time the Republicans vomit up a lame-butt candidate like Coats, I think "I'll show them, by refusing to vote for their ditchwater. 'Cause the Democrat couldn't be that much worse... right?"
ReplyDeleteThen the local Democrats turn around and puke up an Andre Carson.
The sad thing is, the Republicans had a least two guys in the primary race who were significantly above the level of the usual Indiana Republican dog poop candidates.
Al T.,
ReplyDelete"Gosh, that Kirt Freeman guy sure is kool. :)"
He sounds like some sort of wookie-suiter, if you ask me.
He should know... :D

Right on, Kirk! Way to cross the pendejo!

So.
ReplyDeleteIs Coats actually that stupid, or does he think Hoosiers are?
At least 217,116 Hoosiers really are that dumb.
ReplyDeleteI saw Coates at the Huntington TEA Party debates and crossed him off my list. The good news? There is always N.O.T.A. on the ballot for U.S. Senate.
ReplyDeleteNOTA=none of the above.
Was that . . . was that THE Kirk Freeman?
