Turn back now.

Joanna discovers the existence of the titanium spork.

Stop, Joanna. Stop now. That way lies madness.

  1. No! No sporks ever. Not even titanium.

There is always a Larue Tactical "Dillo" in the car though--the "Tactical Beverage Entry Tool".

  2. I have two titanium sporks in the BOB. Admittedly, I purchased them mainly because they amused me greatly when I saw them at REI. The previous commentary here may have influenced the decision as well.

  3. I've always been a gadget freak, so I bought some Light My Fire sporks to try out. They're OK for light use, but if you are trying to eat a pint of Haagen-Dazs ice cream and haven't let it soften a bit, the sporks can snap in half. Then I saw the titanium version and said to myself, "Aha! That one won't break, I'll bet." For the price I paid for it, it had better NOT break...

  4. I bought one a few years ago for a Mike-birthday-present. He was amused.

  6. Tad Gear, crack for the gear obsessed (and the BEST reason to visit SF). I've been a Tad addicted customer since 2002...8 years of crack and no sign of stopping.

  9. I was bitterly disappointed that the Snow Peak Travel Chopsticks ("Unique collapsible design")are made from mere stainless steel.

  11. But but but but ... shiny!

I'll tuck it behind my ear when not in use, firmly secured beneat the strap of my aviator goggles.

  12. Joanna, "shiny" is the only reason you need. :)

  13. "All titanium construction with stainless bottle cap lifter/can opener."

Grrrrrrr. Either is all or is not all. No "with".

I was more disappointed by the fact that they're sold out.

  15. I haven't tried one, but I like the idea of this one. The tines on a traditional spork are too short to do much good in my opinion.

  16. My brother got a bunch of titanium sporks for Christmas one year, and I managed to snag one. They're awesome for soup.

  17. Sporks suck. Most folks that use sporks also think bonnaroo is the acme of entertainment. If you use a spork you could be well on your way to sportin' a ratty set of dreds,a pair of Birkenstocks, and a strong case of B.O.The women who use them also start looking like they have Gabe Kaplan in a headlock when their arms are raised.YMMV,but I spend enough time in the woods chasing shit thats good to eat with fly rods and guns to have a good overview of the situation.

  18. Wow Hootie, I will keep that in mind. I wouldn't want "teh hippy cooties". The last time I used my Ti spork was in West Texas, around a camp fire to eat chili, when it was 15 degrees (F) outside.

Then again, I have long hair, I wear Chaco sandals, I know people with dreads and women who don't shave, and I teach Geology. So, I guess that means I have to check my man card at the door, then, eh?

Social judgment based on your eating utensils? Please...

  19. My Maxpedition Fatboy contains both a Ti Spork and a Ka-Bar Hobo. Truth be told, I much prefer the taste of stainless over titanium. Mostly it’s in there as the punch line when anybody asks me “Whatcagot in there? A titanium spork?” At with point I produce said object, usually much to their fascinated dismay!

WV: “trusag” True sage? Not so sure ‘bout that, but I’ll take it as a complement!

  20. Nooooooo! You got me looking at ThinkGeek again! Now I'm gonna go broke! Aaarrrrgggghhh!!!

The Ti spork is neat, but what really got my attention is this.

That's right. ThinkGeek has gotten someone making slide rules again! Shiny!

They've taken the most useless artifact in the history of humanity and made it indestructible.

    Brilliant.
