Some parts of central Indiana have received over five inches of rain so far this June, and we're not halfway through the month. My zip code has had measurable liquid precipitation for nine of the past fifteen days.
We're nowhere near any record high temperatures, but 90+% humidity can make even the low 80s plenty icky.
If Lysenko were right, Hoosiers would be developing gills just any old minute now.
Five inches for the month?
ReplyDeleteHell, that's what we got, just last night.
Right with you on the rest too. It could afford a short dry spell for a little while, as far as I'm concerned.
Low 80s are icky, anyway. Anything over 70 is too bloody hot.
ReplyDeleteFive inches for the year? Our rain has ended and won't return until the end of October. There's no humidity and we've already had our first brush-fires. There are three separate wildfires outside Hollister today.
ReplyDeleteWhen we run out of money and the state burns to a cinder, maybe then the Unions will stop asking for special dispensation. Not.
It only rained twice here in the last two weeks.
ReplyDeleteOnce for five days, and once for nine days.
We've gotten 19.5" this year, 10.8 inches of that was last week in two days! Fortunately we weren't here when it happened. Off on vacation getting rained on and hailed on in MT.
ReplyDeleteTam--
ReplyDeleteI guess this means you won't be interested in moving to Florida anytime soon?
Five inches for the month, so far, you say? Kindly pardon my French, but big damned deal.
ReplyDeleteAbout 30 miles or so north of here, the north side of the Oklahoma City area had over eleven inches of rain since 4:00 AM this morning. Last month, much of the same area received over one billion dollars worth of hail damage. Some of the hail was bigger than softballs.
But that's OK. This is Oklahoma, and that sort of thing happens here now and then. In fact, it's still raining, and there's more to come tomorrow.
My first year in Germany we had 40 consecutive days of rain. Noah's Arc jokes were all the rage. I went to Frankfurt to pick up a newly arriving family and they commented on how green everything was...
ReplyDeleteSee! The first liar doesn't stand a chance!
ReplyDeleteHot and sticky...
ReplyDeleteYou WERE pining for the south not 5 months ago, yes?
:-P
Five inches? Here in Houston that's considered a light dew...
ReplyDeletecap'n chumbucket
Rain comes to the Sonoran Desert when you can hold the end of that "green" thing attached to the wall above your head and turn the handle counter-clockwise.
ReplyDelete"FIVE inches!" That's what we get most YEARS!
ReplyDeletePshaw...
ReplyDeleteDang rains so hard around these parts that it broke my rain gauge and that's no lie...
The humidity here puts 4 to 5 gallons of distilled water out from the AC unit drain a day. I didn't bother changing out the jugs at night...
