For your next zombie infestation: The totally-impractical-yet-undeniably-cool tube-launched unguided rocket-propelled chainsaw.

Just saying it brings a smile to my face.

  1. Oh no, no, no....fin stabilized just won't do. It needs to tumble after it leaves the tube for maximum dismembering effectiveness. Not only that but that will also ensure loopy blood/gore trails down the flight path, thereby painting a pretty picture...well...pretty in a zombie apocalypse sort or way.

Why do I always have to think of these things?

  2. This is quite possibly the most wonderful thing I've seen today...

Does it come with a bayonet?

  3. If it was belt fed it would be perfect.

  4. It needs to be double-barreled. Both barrels fired simultaneously and with the "charges" connected by a chain, they would twirl through the air like the two-stroke Dervish of Death. Use Blendzall for the proper pre-mix scent. Caster-oil and cordite = wonderful.

  5. I really like DirtCrashr's idea but in order for an 'impractical' weapon to catch on you need a few things.

    1. Government involvement and backing. Then it doesn't matter if you ever have one private paying customer.

    2. Pizazz. C'mon, unguided? To make this thing rock it needs a DARPA inspired "SMART" chainsaw projectile. This would allow you to take out 'high value' zombies with pin point accuracy with little collateral damage. It also would bring the cost in line with government budgets so they notice this and don't think it merely a smudge on the budget paperwork.

    3. Slick marketing to give the politico's cover. Advertise it by showing a hippie shooting it at one dead tree in the forest. Then cut away and show how the thing turned the entire tree into wood pellets for his eco friendly sootless wood stove. Never mind if it can't really do that.

NOW you got yerself a WEAPON!

  6. I like to think in the realm of the possible, now if you were to take something like a shotblade and make it bigger to handle full sized saw blades... Now that would be doable since the power and spin for the blade is supplied by the launcher itself. Cocking it would be quite the exercise but there are probably was to mechanically assist that. Oh and just think of a vehicle mounted version that would shoot sawmill blades into crowds of zombies...
