What's Ultimater than a Deagle?

The Double Deagle!

It's twice as Ultimate as a regular Deagle!

I was going to write a post about how, on average, Hollywood gunplay had improved exponentially in my lifetime, and then this shows up to drag the average back towards the cellar. I guess my post can wait.

  1. Yes, but we have the outstanding weapon handling movies such as . . . oh, I don't know . . . maybe . . . SWAT!!!

  4. And, evidently, I'm doing it with my posting style now.

  5. Dunno about the mean, but the median gun handling (at least on TV) has significantly improved. Heck, I'm pretty sure the TV cops keep their booger hooks off the bangswitch more often than real cops do these days!

  6. A double deagle is useless, but a triple deagle, configured in a triangle, is an excellent weapon against rogue Jedi. No amount of maxibig force can make a lightsaber block 3 bullets at the same time. Geometry FTW!

    Course, double-ought works even better.

  7. Ian: they even do that when it's not appropriate, like holding an armed suspect at gunpoint....

I think it's a training reaction to that rash of actors harmed by the blank wads during a negligent discharge. (See Lee, Brandon, et al)

  8. After seeing the picture I thought about practicality, then recoil, then "how stupid is he to use his support hand that way?" Then again, maybe the gun is so heavy he needs support holding it up.

  9. I'd seen that too - I suspect hard-assed propmasters (for the stated reason).

One thing I find interesting with NCIS is that they seem to all use IWB holsters and *leave the gun in the holster* when administratively disarming (mostly when they sit at their desks). Not something you see on most cop shows; so it sticks in my mind

  10. Tam:

What percentage of Hollywood gun handling improvement would you chalk up to Michael Mann? To this day I remember Jimmy Caan slicing the pie with his 1911 in "Thief," and, for that matter, William Peterson packing a Glaser-loaded Charter Bulldog in "Manhunter."

  11. So I take it one of the chambers has a snap cap in it? Or is there a feed selector switch in case Bugs Bunny sticks his finger in one of the barrels?

    Also:

    WHAT DOES IT MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAN?

  12. I don't know, I still see a lot of tea-cupping and pseudo-Weaver chicken wings, but then again I watch a lot of TV.

  13. Wasn't Deagle one of the banana Splits?

  14. If you wave your arms before pulling the trigger will it shoot around corners?

  15. In gun shops all over America there will be folks wanting to order the Double Deagle.

    Just because.

Whitickers says they can get me one for $400 but I don't want to drive to West Louisville. Can you beat that price?

  17. Pah! The sixties Green Hornet had an even more awesome weapon than a Double Deagle. He had Kato.

And by Kato I mean Bruce Lee- the man who beat up Chuck Norris.

  18. Know what would be even cooler? If they fired alternately, like the WWII pom-pom anti-aircraft guns.

  19. Double wielding for amputees!

This should open up the market for handicapped actors in John Woo movies, at least.

  20. As I said over at Uncle's, I suspect it's the Hornet's "Gas and Electric Shock" gun.

Which makes it "a silly movie prop" rather than "a ridiculous firearm", because it's not even pretending to be a firearm.

  21. With a 6 round tube feed under each barrel, and a low powered blowback round like a .45acp mid-range semi-wadcutter, I could make it work.

Using Overload's idea about a pom-pom gun, I could even use the mass of both bolt/semi-slides for a single round, and get a heavier bullet out the muzzle.

Even if our hero missed, the badguys would most likely bust a gut laughing;-)

My question is, who makes a holster for it?

  22. After watching the trailer, the gas gun is completely different - and in an incredible display of EVERY Rule Violation, Hornet-Junior smokes himself. Temporarily.
The bad-guy is the dude holding the Deagle Deuce, not the Hornet - and he just points it and a car flips over backwards, on fire. No muzzle flash but a quick edit-cut.

My hat is off to you, that has such a sublime Three Stooges bent to it that George Lucas is a bastard if he doesn't film that before he dies.

  26. Beware the dangerous and dastardly dealers of dual-Deagle death.

P.S. Seth Rogen as the Green Hornet? Someone fails at casting.

  27. @caleb: I was meaning "better" in the sense of the 4 rules; not necessarily in the sense of more accurate or professional.

  28. I was thinking you were talking about someone dual wielding desert eagles, but holy crap! It's almost as bad as the double barrel pump shotgun Moe wields on the Simpsons. At least that was a cartoon.
