"...they could see things in worlds invisible to mortal men; but too often they beheld only the phantoms and delusions of Sauron."

It appears Kagan has been confirmed.

Damn. Now the Supreme Court will stop being stalwart individualist defenders of the Constitution...

  1. Yeah, but they haven't shown up on pterodactyls yet, so there's still time for us to vote our way out of it. :-P

It could have been worse. She could have been replacing a conservative. Small comfort I know, but better than nothing.

  4. Well Tam, Kagan may be in, but at least the government stopped this terrorist-peddling seven year-old from selling lemonade.

  5. Jet-powered 367-mph school bus. Really. From Indianapolis.

Steam, schmeam. This thing has an engine from an F4 f*****g Phantom.

They did it to keep kids off drugs, which was a sequitur fail. But, still, hey. Jet school bus. Yeah.

  6. Backing up Seth. If one Conservative Judge and/or Kennedy buys it during Barry the Firsts Reign, then Scotus just becomes a Rubber Stamp, and you might as well just watch as a mysterious fire burns down the Reichstag...errr, the Capitol. Of course, those two Rinocrat Harpies from Maine voted with the Commies again. When will the Republicans get it through their head that their job is to be the OPPOSITION PARTY!?

@staghounds: ROTFL! If I had evidence that Kagan believed in God, let alone feared Him, I'd feel much better about this.

SCOTUS judges may be retired at the pleasure of their constituents, Just sayin'

  10. Joel, when was the last time that happened, though? Who dares cast down the Lightbringer's Supreme Court justice? The wroth would be unbelievable.

That said, while I find Kagan to be a terrible selection for Supreme Court justice, who says that belief in a God is a requisite for wisdom or moral decisions? I assure you, when I'm looking at a potential Supreme Court Justice, I check their judicial record, not whether they profess to hold a Christian faith. Implying that Kagan's fault lies in being an atheist, rather than her liberal stance, is insulting to a lot of fiscally conservative atheists and agnostics - most of the Libertarian party.

God doesn't have a monopoly on moral decisions, and he's often soft on civil rights.
