President Obama has made a point recently to invoke Bush's name in what many say is a calculated effort to remind voters of the previous administration's economic policies, which Democrats argue led to the worst recession in modern history.I'll bet he took the distributor cap off the economy so nobody could get it started back up, and then took it with him when he left the White House and hid it wherever all those Clinton staffers hid the "W" keys from the keyboards...
Okay, Barry, listen: That is weak. Weak.
You are, in effect, saying "Ooh, those nasty Republicans broke the economy soooo bad that we haven't been able to fix it. But you should vote for us anyway. Even though we can't fix it. 'Cause it's Bush's fault, so don't vote for this other guy over here who isn't Bush, but if you squint really hard he kinda looks like him..."
Ringing upbeat endorsement of your team there, Barry. If I were a Democrat candidate, I'd ask you to please keep your weaksauce appeals out of my district and away from my fundraisers. Blaming it on the other guy might work while you're trying to get elected, but it doesn't help you once you've got the job.
It's all your stick now, baby, and quit whining, because you asked for the job. Now you have to do it. Maybe if you'd actually stuck around and finished a term after you got elected rather than immediately getting bored and starting to campaign for your next gig, you'd know that. Right now the gig it looks like you're stumping for is "ex-president".
He is running for reelection. He’s never shifted from campaign to governing mode. With any luck he’ll fail to realize what worked to get him the job won’t be enough to keep it.
ReplyDeleteany chance we can get him into that ex-president gig as soon as possible?
ReplyDeletePreferably before he throws any more parties or vacations?
His Imperial Majesty is still, so far as I know, scheduled to show his face here in the Pacific Northwet and stump for Patty Murray (D-ensa)which has all the dozen or so GOP candidates for her seat jumping with joy.
ReplyDeleteWow, who would have guessed that the fluffy-headed avatar of hope and change would end up becoming the load in the harsh light of reality.
ReplyDeleteOh wait... anyone that gets this: Hubris Nemesis
His site is not only still up, it's still campaigning for his [re]election.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what office he is running for. His erstwhile supporters don't even have good things to say about him anymore. He could be the first president to be drug out of office and tarred and feathered. Horse whipping is to good for him. As I recall, the french made the guillotime just for Marie and clan. Wonder what device we can come up with for Barry and his clan.
ReplyDeleteAaaaand, the Google News item, entitled "Latest jobs data is blow to Obama election hopes - AFP"
ReplyDeletethat shows up in Google Reader has who's photograph attached? Beuler, Beuler?
Apparently, for an incompetent chimp-like rural dumas, Bush did such an incredible job that even a Kwisatz Haderach like Obama can't solve his mess.
ReplyDeleteWhich begs the question, could George Bus create a rock so big that Barack Obama couldn't move it?
Perhaps if Il Duce spent a little more time at his desk and a little less time at parties seeing which celebrity he will allow to kiss the royal posterior (yes Paul McCartney I'm talking to you, you limey bastard) then perhaps things might turn around.
ReplyDeleteNahhhhh, who the hell am i kidding. Those parties are probably the only thing keeping him from making things worse
And just for the record, any man that actually makes me miss Clinton as president has my undying enmity for life.
Weaksauce? Tam, I never knew you were a /b-tard! :-)
ReplyDeleteJohn S.
Please correct me if I am wrong. Daddy Bush continued reganomics Things got better over time in spite of his leadership. Didn't Clinton have a republican congress and the economy was good? G.W. started out with a republican congress and ended with a Dem congress as things started to "circle the bowl"? Is there a pattern here? Realy.
ReplyDeleteAnon@ 9:43 Didn't Clinton have a republican congress and the economy was good?
ReplyDeleteNote that the--or "a"--recession officially started on September 1st, 2000. The day I retired from the Army, which is why I remember it so vividly: I was reading that and cussing the people who had spent 20+ years telling me how marketable my TS-SCI clearance was...
WV: pareakei. The Won has the leadership skills of a pareakei(t)
Amen, sister,Amen.
ReplyDeleteI believe the proper term is "former president", "ex-president" is reserved only for those who were impeached and removed from office....
ReplyDeleteOr maybe that was the implication....

ReplyDeleteI remember things going south about August-September 2007, when Pelosi and her bunch really got rolling.
And I had the same clearance, which qualifies me to be behind the counter at a bank, fixing cash-handling equipment, provided there are enough people to watch me and enough video cameras to record what I do.
Obviously there is only one solution. Impeach Bush! This would fit perfectly into the O's program of wasted money, wasted time, and divisive rhetoric.
ReplyDeleteYeah, and President Obama isn't gonna fall for a banana in the tailpipe.
ReplyDeleteApparenlty, getting there was all the fun for the Obama campaign-bus riders.
ReplyDeletePay no mind to the centerline forward hatch in the floor, but direct your attention instead to the 2-minutes-hate on the televisor while you shuffle slowly forward. It's another "GWB is teh ebil" marathon and we know how much you love that!
Give the guy a break - he's never had a real job in his life, never worked a day in his life, he's having to make it up as he goes.
ReplyDeleteWell, there was that whole "ready from Day One" shit, but to be fair nobody asked "ready for what, exactly?" At least nobody in the media asked. So it's kind of late for anyone to notice that he's in over his head.
Both parties spend like there is no tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteBoth parties presidents spend like the next guy will have to deal with it.
BHO just seems to ignore the bill more than most. It's an economics class essay for him. He knows the impact will never touch him.
His pension remains secure thanks to the taxpayers.
I have little or no time for the ruling gentry anymore.

Rickn8or: Think ".com boom." maybe it wasn't a full-blown recession where you were, but it sure screwed stuff up around here.
ReplyDeleteSoCal (Ventura Co.) 84-91; Silly-cone Valley 80-84 and 91-93. Looks like I missed out on it goin' and comin'.
ReplyDeleteDoes this mean that Bush Jr. is more powerful than the omnipresent Sumdood, instigator of 90% of the crimes in the US? That is terrifying to contemplate.

If only the desire to vindicate one's first mistake by repeating it were not so strong in the stupid and ignorant voter.
ReplyDeleteTwo years is a long time in the public mind, as George H. W. Bush would tell you.
Sunk cost fallacy as applied to politics?
ReplyDeletewv: wintet - why yes we did.
There's an old management joke about the outgoing manager leaving his successor 3 letters to open in case of crisis.
ReplyDeleteLetter 1 read: Blame your predecessor.
Barry's beat this one into the ground.
Letter 2 read: Reorganize.
Barry needs to take this one to heart, and "reorganize" does not mean "double the size of your organization". It means CUT THE FAT.
Letter 3 read: Prepare 3 letters. Barry can't get to this stage fast enough for me.
