Fall is in the air.

After a stifling August, I woke up to a 50°F breeze wafting in the window at Roseholme; the coolest it's been in Indy since May. The guy on the TeeWee was talking about college football, and the local station was pimping its annual Coats For Kids drive.

That's about it for another summer, then, at least by the rituals of my people, and it makes no nevermind if the astronomers say different.

A good day for a Broad Ripple breakfast and some cycling on the Monon, followed by a late lunch at the Brew Pub, no?

  1. Aye, and a good day to turn some 3x5 cards into religious artifacts, by making them hole(y).

    I have a modified Glock that needs-a-shootin.

Followed by some combination of wood fire, steak, and lager.

  2. Expecting 104 in Phoenix today. Send some of that 50-ish over this-a-way, please.

  3. A good day for pulled pork. The Boston Butt is already in the smoker...

  4. I'm really jealous. It's probably going to be at least 2 months until I get a chance at a 50 degree breeze.

But like Jim said, good day for pulled pork. The smoker's going and the butts are ready to go in.

  5. Good weather here, too. It was in the low to Mid 70's yesterday, so I was finally able to turn off the AC and open the windows (yay!). Today is supposed to be only a little warmer and tonight should be cool again. Unfortunately, it's supposed to get back into the 80's after the weekend.

  6. And after lunch, a good time to check on the condition of the leaf rakes, purchasing more leaf bags, and seeing if the -25F Windshield washer fluid is on the shelves yet. Had the furnace inspected for winter yet? Autumn, that time of the year that says, "Get ready to hunker down and find enough stuff to do so that you don't end up killing your roommate just to have something that will break up the Boredom of February, and here's some cold, wet mud to play with while you're trying to get your chores done". ; )

  7. Jerk... that sounds like an enjoyable day. I've gotta work in a couple hours.

  8. The weather has turned very nice down here in the South. 50's at night last night, good feeling outside. It's weather that actually makes you want to go outside, as opposed to the "Oh god, the burning hell!" heat of summer.

Much, much welcome, IMHO, for my job is an outside one.
