A second helping of monster-slayin' goodness...

It appears that Monster Hunter Vendetta is now in stock and shipping from Amazon.

Hooray for machine guns and dead(er) zombies!

  1. Dead zombies? There's another kind?

  2. I liked the first, and yet-the first book was a little overdone, bursting from the seams, pick your metaphor. I liked it, but at what 700 plus pages, I would have liked it a lot more if it had been, say, 500?

Not digging at the author, that's what editors are for, but I was always told when writing, as in many things, less is more. I'm not looking for Don Winslow-esque clipped phrases (which are also awesome), just a little more tightness.

  5. Please, for the love of all that's good and wholesome, please tell me that in this novel Owen & Co. take on the Twilight cast...

    STAKE THE SPARKLY!

  6. @ Jay,
Personally, I was hoping that would be in Blade 4.

  7. @ Jay

That would be a walkover and possibly the shortest book ever.

  8. My fantasy is that Edward gets arrested for stalking in the first book and that Bella grows up and gets a hobby other than "being 'loved' by the male lead(s)". She'd do well at stamp collecting.

  9. Gee, am I the only one who picked MHV up, so to speak, in an advanced electronic copy from Baen...?

  10. Like The Freeholder, I got an email from Amazon that mine shipped yesterday. I can hardly wait... for another night of no sleep since I couldn't put down the original 'til I finished it. I'm sure this one will be the same.

  11. Nope, D.W., you are NOT alone!

Baen's ebooks and monthly webscriptions just can't be beat for price and choice.

And MHV will rock your socks off. Fun, fast-paced reading...and yes, a little tighter in the writing and editing. Elite literature it's not, but hey, who wouldn't love the line..."what gun for zombie elephant?" that reads THIS blog?

  12. How long before Larry writes a parody about the DNC as the Church of the Temporary Mental Condition?

Scratch that...the organized parties seem to do a pretty good job of parody on themselves on a regular basis.

  13. 700 pages is too long? Hell, I think MHV at 61x pages is too short! I could've gone for the editing room floor scraps.

Then again, the adventures of Harbinger, Z, and Company are so much that I'm ready for the next novel, right frickin' now.

I picked up the book Sunday night from the local Narnes and Boble, I had to have the lady go to the back to get my copy.

The only question left to ask now is, What gun for armored zombie elephant?
