Looks to me like a clean shoot. Jabba was a hoodlum and gredo was a bounty hunter. Neither of which are scantioned peace officers. Gredo was a low life scum that intended to kill Han who feared for his life. Clean shoot in my book.
I always wondered why people made such a huge deal out of who shot first when it's clear that none of the weirdos in the Cantina appeared to really give a fuck about the whole thing.
Obviously, Mos Eisly law allowed Han to pay for the dead body removal and go about his way. Not that it mattered anyway, since the local authorities were all occupied with some missing droids or something.
That's the way I remember it going down.
