Shootin' Buddy unloaded the T****s J***e that he had bought as a joke back when they first came out. (There is no truth to the rumor that he actually walked the floor of the Indy 1500 with a sign hanging around his neck reading "FOR SALE: T****s J***e! Greatest Revolver Ever Made!")
The Mauser-Vergueiro made with the go-aways.
I re-stocked some .45ACP ball ammo.
Also, there will be a new... er... "Sunday" Smith tomorrow. :)
Shh.. my father in law wasted his mon, er, bought one of those things last spring. "Just for fun" he said. Hmm, I could find way more fun than that with my $400. Can't be too hard on him though, his only other handguns are a pristine 70's era Dan Wesson 357, and a Ruger Mk-I target. Fun personified.
ReplyDeleteWhich would you be more embarrassed to be seen with at the range: a NAA mini-revolver, a Taurus Judge or a Desert Eagle?
ReplyDeleteBut what of the Portugee?
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the Sunday Smith; I guess its "name" will be...SS #49?

"FOR SALE: T****s J***e! Greatest Revolver Ever Made!"
ReplyDeleteYeah, thanks for telling all the other kids on me. Now I'll never get into the Honeycomb Hideout.
Correct, because the sign said "Greatest Revolver Ever Devised!"
And I got great books, some ammo, hard to find Butler Creek objective cover for a Scout Scope, a Wookie patch, mags, and a Ruger MkII 22/45 that was the deal of the show at $250 from a private party. Could have bought more, but showed some restraint this show. There's always the next show in Indy.

ReplyDeleteCall me crazy, but if I found a good deal on a 357 or 44 Deagle, I'd scoop it up. It seems like a hilarious, yet cheap to reload for range toy.
heh... Honeycomb Hideout.
ReplyDelete@ Shootin' Buddy
ReplyDeleteA wookie patch?
Could some form of image of said patch be provided? Perhaps a link? My Google-fu has failed me here.
Thanks

We just had a gun show here in Virginia Beach this weekend as well. Obviously not as good as the Indy one. But, since I found primers for $26/1000, it was good enough for my purposes.
ReplyDeleteThe Judge was the least offensive way Americans had to get a sawed off shotgun into their arsenal. Sure it was only .410, but
ReplyDelete"Also, there will be a new... er... "Sunday" Smith tomorrow. :)"
ReplyDeleteAh, Tam. It fills my little heart with delight that I wasn't the only person who picked up a Smith over the weekend. I'm looking forward to your Monday Smith.
Hey now.
ReplyDeleteI happen to *like* my NAA mini-22! It's a lot of fun to bring to the range just to see people's reactions when you actually fire a gun that's a quarter the size of your hand...
You'd be surprised (or not) how many people don't realize how small a functioning handgun can be...
Forgive my ignorance, but what's wrong with Desert Eagles? I've never owned or fired one, but I've never really heard anything bad about them either.

ReplyDeleteWay overhyped in the movies, heavily desired by those that don't know a damn bit about guns. They are huge guns, too, so they look plain ridiculous in most people's hands.
I appreciate that info. I knew they were huge, with a price tag to match, which were two of the reasons I never bought one. I figured my Ruger and/ or Smith could do what I needed and were cheaper.
ReplyDeleteI donno, The one person I know who owns a Desert Eagle bought it for all the wrong reasons (movie hype etc.) but kept it (he says) because the weight really tames the recoil of the .44 Mag. He has HUGE hands though, so the size isn't an issue for him. I haven't fired one, so I can only go by what he says about it.

Desert Eagle owner here. The venison in my freezer didn't die of laughter at the guy pointing a Desert Eagle its direction. It died because the gun was powerful, handy, and much more useful than some may realize. It fits my big hands just fine, and even held its own in IHMSA silhouette matches.
ReplyDeleteSo I'd be more embarrassed with an NAA .22 Short belt-buckle revolver, honestly.
I see no contradiction between saying that the Deagle is a generally silly gun and admitting the fact that I've come darned close to buying one in .357 on more than one occasion. ;)
ReplyDelete(...and I think that the .22 Short NAA Minis are cuter'n dammit.)
Bless you, Tam.
ReplyDeleteThere's a MkI .357 Desert Eagle in Wisconsin with your name on it when I take my dirt nap. ;-)
