Well South Korea does, and he's started shooting his shotgun randomly out the windows again.
How does one deal with this constant (and make no mistake, it is constant,) series of "incidents"? Does one decide that a dozen or so casualties a year to random provocations are cheaper than the hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of casualties that would surely happen in an all out war?
And what's up with North Korea, anyway? I mean, we know that the guy on top is nuttier than squirrel poop, but does the crazy run true all the way down to the lowest cannon cocker?
They are still technically at war, although I think they're both better off having a bit of a thick skin rather than kicking off the second half. The norks don't have much going for them, but Seoul us in arty range of the border. Perhaps that is what they were trying to remind the South of.

*Is, dangit.

You don't win with nutty. The best you can hope for is He calls His Wife fat and She beat's the crap out of Him...
ReplyDeleteSeen those space pictures of North and South Korea in which the south is all lights and the North is all dark? I believe we have a tool to temporarily increase the number of light spots in the North.....but how does one bomb someone up to the Stone Age?
ReplyDeleteI dunno - the kids cloistered by crazy parents who choose to homeschool don't often wax sane...
ReplyDeleteHome schooled? Try collective farm and re-education camp schooled. Crazy is a feature not a bug in their system.
ReplyDeleteCould it just be that KJI is just itching to die by the sword? The guy is getting high on his own supply (of Glorious Leader bullshit) so martyrdom has to sound better than a feces ridden senile death in whatever passes for a nursing home in North Korea.
ReplyDeleteI think it might be a bit more insidious than Kim-Jong Il wanting to "Die by the Sword". KJI just anointed his youngest son, Kim-Jong Eun as heir apparent. At roughly 28, and a newly-minted 4-star General in the Glorious Army of the Revolution, or whatever, KJE just might need a "military victory" to cement his position as the next "Dear Leader".
ReplyDeleteIf that is the case, the Korean Peninsula is about to become "really interesting"...
I've heard it said that Christian converts in NK can be picked out of the crowd just by the expression on their faces. I find that more a comment on the climate there than on the effect of gettin' religion.
ReplyDeleteDitto Malachias. Besides, do you think the Anointed One is going to play Hardball with China and tell them to put their Pit Bulls named Kim back on the leash and to stop terrorizing the neighborhood?
ReplyDeleteI believe China is behind this and egging on NKorea, as it was in the 1950s.
ReplyDeleteThe 1950 invasion was Stalin's idea. The Chinese didn't get involved in a big way until the ruckus got too close to their border.
ReplyDeleteI beleive that Mac saying he may keep going past the border also gave Mao incentive to get directly involved.
ReplyDeleteAre they unable to track the rounds back to the offending muzzles, for a little counterbattery fire, or are they buried in a 50+year accumulation of concrete with blast doors at the ports?
ReplyDeleteI'm not certain China wants to be directly involved in a military conflict with the US -- we're too good a customer at present, and open hostilities would necessarily cut off trade.
ReplyDeleteNo, I think any "adventuring" will be North Korea's idea, and the Chinese will either stay out of it, or try to distance themselves from it.
Teh krazy may be built into that system. But if Cpl. Cannoncocker went independently crazy and blasted a few on his own dime the bossman would not approve. Such disapproval is generally applied as a permanent 'time-out'.
ReplyDeleteChina will set N Korea off when the rest of their plan is ready to go. It will provide a good distraction.
ReplyDeleteWhy would China have to do anything of a military nature to us? If they wait long enough, Ben and Barry will just wind up giving them the mortgage to the country.
ReplyDeleteTheir plan is not of a direct military action against us. It's invasion of Taiwan, Japan and all other countries in Asia. Extermination of all males and all females over age of 30 in those conquered areas, and distribution of remaining females and land to the males in china that have no women (because of the one child policy creating a massive imbalance of males to females).
ReplyDeleteMalachias,
ReplyDeleteI can't help worrying about China's reticence. They recently had a Chinese Army officer write a book - advocating China whupping up on the US, and taking the position of world leader the guy thinks belongs to China.
Getting such a book published in the Chinese controlled economy must indicate some high-ranking sympathy for the notion.
I notice that China has also locked in firm contracts for a decade or two of oil - while the US bans drilling. At some point in the not-so-distant future, our fleets and military will be grounded when they decide to come calling. I mean, as Saudia Arabia and Great Britain reach the ends of their oil fields - we can expect them to stop exporting to keep their own defenses running.
Our ships and tanks would be ever so much cheaper to run, if we just change to steam and burn corn directly, without all the fuss about ethanol. Although ethanol and biofuels would be handier for in-flight refueling.
This is just Dark Korea's SOP - They've learned that if a democrat becomes prez of the US, all they have to do is shoot off a few missiles, lob a few shells, and the H.A.F.twit occupying the presidency will piss himself trying to give them money and food so they will stop.
ReplyDeleteProblem is, Obama didn't pony up the cash when the SK ship was sunk a while back, so now he's upping the ante, and will continue to do so until he gets his thug money.
Glossary:
Dark Korea - the Korea that you can see by satellite at night only by the outline of lights around it's borders.
H.A.F.twit - Hate America First twit.
BoxStockRacer - Me.
Let's see...
ReplyDelete-The 80's-90's: Remember when Japan was going to own everything? How their superior management style and work ethic would result in them buying the US right out? And how well that worked out...
-The 40's-80's: Remember how the USSR was going to conquer everything? How their superior numbers and hardier peoples would bury us? How they were supposed to be so much better at science and math? And just how well that worked out…
-The 30’-40’s: Remember how the various Fascist governments were going to conquer the world? How their superior leadership style brought focus and strength as opposed to the weak and decadent democracies? And just how well that worked out…
I’m going to bet that China as a communist dictatorship will not finish out the decade.
+1 to our man Joe in PNG.
