Overheard in the Hallway:

Roomie was in her bedroom getting stuff together for work as I was exiting the bathroom. Huck the cat came trotting down the hall, dragging a pink striped knee sock like a freshly-killed squirrel.

Me: "Uh, you should see what your boy has caught here. And, come to think of it, you probably shouldn't be leaving your makeup all untended on the vanity with him around. I know how you feel about it."

RX: "'Feel about it'?"

Me: "Yeah. That stuff costs money. If Huck were to leap up on the vanity and knock it to the floor, you'd..."

RX: "Be peeved?"

Me: "Well, I was going to say '...lose your $#!+', but the judges say they'll also accept '...be peeved'."

  1. Heh. Sounds like "Huck the cat" could be a verb as well as a noun in that case...

  3. Our little tabby Annya believes that rolled up white socks, especially the smaller ones worn by the kids, are mice. She will stalk, pounce, kill, and carry off as many pair as she can. Occasionally, she will bring them to us so we will learn to hunt just like her. Which is cute until you're trying to dress the toddler and there are no clean socks because the cat has had a particularly active hunting session.

Also, the cat will eventually figure out that a compact makes a good hockey puck. Just saying.

  4. Karma has taken to Toni's cell phone in a big way. She will materialize instanter and start stalking it whenever it's put down and left unattended for a microsecond, plus or minus a nanosecond or two.
