Sebastian notes that the Henry held more than ten rounds, as the butternut ranks found to their dismay at the Battle of Franklin. Of course, there is the cutting-edge, modern lethality of this piece of precision Swiss death. And, as Oleg is fond of pointing out, don't forget the revolvers...
Note that none of the guns mentioned are even firearms under federal law, since they were made prior to 1899...
:-)
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that a blogger that posts about firearms and is featured on the Gun Blogs site would make the amateur mistake of using the anti-gunners buzz word CLIPS instead of the proper MAGAZINES. And yes there is a difference. Using the term CLIPS makes you sound like an ignorant TV reporter.
ReplyDeleteclaymore,
ReplyDeleteI was being hip and ironic.
Isn't that a beauty!? Man I'd love to own one. But then, I like antiques. Not that I'd want to carry if for self-defense.
ReplyDeleteA point well made... and a beautiful old pistol to boot! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteReally, Tam you have to build yourself an outline and get that book to market. It would be particularly nice if it was supplemented by nice Oleg photographs, but I guess others would be just fine.
ReplyDeleteNone of that prejudice out in AZ...at least among those that actually, you know, live there.
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell is this, politicians with the backbone to carry out their employers' directives even in the face of a vast conspiracy and shameless exploitation of tragedy?

Man, if it weren't for the oppressive heat and hordes of q-tips and illegal aliens, I might move to AZ from FLA.
Oh, wait...

Actually, Claymore, when I read "clips" I assumed that Tam was speaking of moon clips, since the featured firearm was a revolver, albeit not one using moon clips.
ReplyDeleteI also assumed she was using that meaning to apply snark directed at the antigunners who call anything that holds the bullet thingies a clip.
So I imputed to Tam several levels of increasingly obscure and sophisticated snark when she was merely deploying basic Mk I Mod 0 snark.
The point is, it's always safer to assume Tam is being snarky rather than that she made an error. Because even if the latter is true, you've just handed her a big ol' Can 'o' Snark and an opener and asked her "Do you have any idea where to apply this?"
@Steve, I concur with your assessment of the wordsmith skills Tam commands.
ReplyDeleteThe Snark is strong with her! I will give her some grief over a recent article title however, "Bore Axis of Evil", but that is just me and it was a great article. I will use it in my next class!
Used to love the H & R 12 round .22 cal revolvers. Of course, Tam, we remember the key phrase "the clip goes in the Garand, th Magazine goes in the 1911".
ReplyDeleteI would like to find some of that "high capacity ammunition" mentioned in a NYT story. Think they have it in 30:06?
