It does say "Live Free Or Die" right on the license plates...

Apparently some in the New Hampshire state legislature have decided to get their wookie on by introducing a bill that "makes the touching or viewing with a technological device of a person’s breasts or genitals by a government security agent without probable cause a sexual assault," and which would therefore land Agent Badtouch on the state's sexual offender registry.

You gotta love that kind of chutzpah.

  1. Good on 'em, however, they seem to have taken up the gay cooties cause recently as well, as your bud Marko has noted.

  2. True.
Be nice if we just went directly to "Probable Cause". Quite a commentary on the state of things that we have to further amplify...

  3. That's not the first bill I've heard of to put an end to the TSA bad-touch shenanigans. I wish I could remember who posted up the other one I saw in the past couple of days.

I'm glad they're doing it. I'd really, really like to see the law not just get passed, but to see some dipshit get prosecuted under it. No doubt DC would go ballistic.

w/v - reatchie; as in, TSA now offers the courtesy of a reatchie-round.

  4. It would not surprise me in the least to find out that newly minted NH state representative Bruce had a hand in this...

Boy, NH looks better and better, I gotta say...

  5. Our new bunch in Concord is tearin' it up- they're in the process of killing the RGGI "cap & tax" bill as well.
Like Jay mentioned, Rep. Bruce is on the job.

  6. I just read in the Red Star that TSA is going to be unionized. Between the delays that will cause (It's too bad you're going to miss your flight, Bruce is on break.) and the "Feel up the Hotties" security screening, I'm pretty sure the airlines are going to die.
    If I can't drive there, I ain't goin'.

  7. At the risk of outing myself as a communist sympathizer and enemy of America, I've got to admit the whole body scan/patdown thing just doesn't bother me. Maybe I'm just used to going places where the security screening is more onerous.

It's a lose-lose for the gov. After 9/11, the general populace freaked the frak out because uberdangeroussharppointyknives were allowed in the passenger cabin. How could the FAA allow such a ridiculous policy??? The fact that the massively overwhelming majority of us had been carrying pocket knives on planes for years (in no small part as a last ditch defense against hijackers!) didn't matter. The "people" blamed FAA and rules needed to be tightened up!

Then we get underwear bombers and warnings of similarly difficult to detect threats, so they pass strict, invasive, proactive protections. And people get pissed about THAT.

Unless the government is FORCING you to enter the secured area of an airport, it's a choice you make. Now it will be pretty interesting if a .gov employee is required to fly somewhere and is subjected to one of these full body gropes...

  8. It doesn't go far enough. The TSA will respond by shutting down security at Manchester airport, essentially shutting down the airport.

NH needs to criminalize things, so that when the Government assumes powers rightfully to be exercised by the State, the State arrests the federal officer.

Tit for tat - this will be a long war (at least with this administration).

  9. Long war, aye.
I am a ".gov traveler" (actually a ".mil traveler" even though no longer in uniform) I fly commercial when I am ORDERED to do so. My choices are to be subject to unreasonable (unConstitutional)search or quit my job. Haven't quit yet, but the thought is always there (fortunately I can quit and still eat).
Yeah I've been in places with different (but not necessarily "more onerous") screening and yes, "the people" were scared; but it was "the people's elected representatives" who chose to do the stupid thing and "go Government" instead of using systems that worked in europe or (even better) Israel.

  10. Jay G - Boy, NH looks better and better, I gotta say...

Yep. Except for the snow, the funny way Those People talk, and the likelihood of NOT being able to get good fried chicken, homegrown tomatoes, barbeque, and biscuits and gravy, it sounds really great.

Throw this into the mix as a selling point: they pay their state legislators what ours (in No. Carolina) are actually worth. Hmmm... I wonder what the job situation is like up there?

ToddG - It's a lose-lose for the gov. After 9/11, the general populace freaked the frak out because uberdangeroussharppointyknives were allowed in the passenger cabin. How could the FAA allow such a ridiculous policy???

I suggest that is was less of the general populace freaking out and blaming the FAA and more of the .gov pulling the "We Gotta Do Something!"(TM) act. Same way we end up with most of our more silly and onerous laws, actually...

  11. Hell a lot of those laws were things that parts of the gov have been wanting to do for YEARS, heck they first tried to ram the patriot act through after the oklahoma bombing IIRC. They've just been waiting for an excuse.

  12. Some of the PATRIOT (ha!) Act dates beck as far as the Reagan and Carter-era DOJ's. It's basically a Greatest Hits album of stuff congresses had been shooting down for the last quarter century as overreaching...

  14. So, if I understand correctly, a government security agent with a bag of breasts and/or genitals that didn't belong to anyone would be free to touch the contents of the bag?

  15. "a government security agent with a bag of breasts and/or genitals that didn't belong to anyone"

Don't give them any ideas- anything can happen. I like my genitals right where they are, thankee.

Fed- "What? I just found these. Don't see to belong to anybody..... least nobody's asked for 'em ...."

  16. Damn, it almost makes me regret not taking that engineering job with Segway. (before "Ginger" was outed as a gyroscooter)

Odd thing about Neu Hampster, though, they have government liquor stores.

  17. Without probable cause?

Maybe the TSA agents need to be certified Eunuchs to bypass all the legal redtape that'll happen because of this one.

If you haven't seen this one, here you go. Real funny:

  18. I'm just as happy that "Civil War II: The Revenge of the 10th Amendment," will be fought by well-dressed men and women in air-conditioned comfort, with legal briefs and sound bites. At least as long as it lasts.
