April 19th, 1775...

"By the rude bridge that arched the flood,
Their flag to April's breeze unfurled,
Here once the embattled farmers stood,
And fired the shot heard round the world."

Happy Patriot's Day, y'all.

  2. Too bad that carrying a piece there now is like a death sentence.

  4. Once upon a time, the men from Massachusetts were great warriors in the cause of liberty.

I guess those genes got permanently removed from the pool at Sharpsburg, Fredricksburg, Chancellorsville, Battery Wagner and Cold Harbor, 'cuz Massachusetts men just ain't what they used to be.

  5. Ah crap Doc, you pissed off Jay. I can tell how bad because his response was short and polite... You better run for cover.

  7. But... but... the government designated 9/11 as Patriot Day! Patriotism has nothing to do with revolution, and everything to do with fighting terrorism, right?

  8. What the hell does the federal government know about patriots?

Last I checked, they thought it was a code word for "white separatist terr'ists"...

Riight, David! I'd sell you a bridge, but I can see the snark in your post. :-)

Did you fly your Snakes* yesterday? I did.

    *Any of various Rattlesnake flags.

Word is "reckin", as in "Ah reckin it's tahm to take out some Redcoats!"

  10. Crotalus, yeah, we at Random Nuclear Strikes blog are still waiting for the IT Dept. to restore our DTOM flag background, but here in meatspace I fly it proudly, even in the heart of Kaliforniastan.

  11. Jay G,

My apologies for indulging in guilt by association. I can only plead that, whereas Massachusetts USED to provide the country with men like the Adamses, Holmes, Shaw, etc., etc., it seems these days reduced to foisting trash like Teddy, Bawney, and Jean-Francois on us.

  12. And the state had to pass legislation to let the marchers carry flintlocks that didn't have trigger locks...OldeForce

  13. "Appleseed" Redcoat targets on the rifle range for our family entertainment. To make it more fun we shot 25 meter targets at 50 instead. I do feel the loss of Massachusetts and much of the once cradle of Liberty in the Northeast.

  14. docjim505,

    Apologies for our politicians.

I promise we're not all that useless, there is an Appleseed 10 miles from the bridge in question.
